I thought I was watching soccer or a Duke basketball game when Broner flopped and was rolling around on the canvas. Also leaving the ring after he didn't get the decision was garbage, imo. Would he have stayed in the ring if the judges had jobbed Maidana on the cards? I think he would have.
i'd like to see Broner get knocked out every time he gets in the ring but his ability to take a punch and recover is impressive, especially those to the body. reminds me of Ali. everything else about him is mediocre or worse, except for the ability to not be discouraged. that will take another beatdown or two.
Broner looked like he wanted to quit in every moment from the 4th round on; he acted like a complete **** through all the match, unrespecting Maidana, constantly watching the referee for no reason, dry humping, pushing away, and even yelling towards his own corner men. In the latest rounds, he looked like he simply wanted it to finish the sooner possible, and right after the match he ran away walking like a drunk sobbing child. And THAT makes you respect him?
I honestly thought he was going to quit on his stool halfway through the fight but he kept pushing right through to the final bell.
Funny you say that. After the fight I mentioned to my Dad that it would have probably been better for Broner if he got KO'd in the 2nd round. Because Broner took a lot of punishment over those 12 rounds. That is for sure.
He seems to have elite recovery skills, but still looked like he got lucky making it past that 2nd round.
You don't have to respect him, you need to forgive him because he is acting 10 years behind his age, like someone said he is man child. He is 23 and to green
I can't respect Broner because he is just a really big dbag however I give him props for staying alive in that ring and surviving the distance. After Maidana put him down the 1st time, I thought it'd be over. But for all that Broner has done leading up to this fight, I am happy he got a wake up shot and was blasted into reality. Any athlete that videotapes himself flushing money down the toilet is a piece of ****.
Youtube titles, you decide which one gets more views: "Broner eats out stripper at nightclub" "Ward on opponent: 'He's a tough young fighter'" There's your answer. People click on things that they wouldn't expect. Broner does things you wouldn't expect, hence, he gets more attention. While I don't like Broner, I think we could do with nice-guy fighters coming off with more than their variations on the standard boxing soundbyte: Pre-fight: "You know, training camp went good as always. I got a great coach and a great team around me, I'm feeling good and I'm just ready to fight, man. He's gonna come to fight but we're gonna be ready for anything he does in there and come out victorious." Post-fight: "Like I said man, the hard work was done in the gym and I just wanna thank my team and God because without them I wouldn't be able to do this. He brought it just like we knew he would, but we made the adjustments and got the win. I'ma go home and rest and be with my family, and we'll let my team decide who's next, but whoever it is you know I'ma be ready. I'm ready for anyone baby."
He got my respect in the way that he took a punch but the shoving, diving, hitting after the bell, and not staying after the decision left me disappointed.
I like Broner, he entertains me. I like guys like Ward and Rigo also, but the have 0 personality. IDK why people expect fighters to be so dainty and polite all the time. I respect any fighter who laces them up, I don't like them all, but I certainly respect them, even Pacquiao, lol.. It was a fight ffs. Maidana was hitting low, and kidney punching. Broner was grabbing when he got buzzed, Maidana was grabbing when he was gassed. Broner was using forearms, Maidana was hitting low At the end of the day Broner, kept fighting aside from the headbutt flop, and in rounds 10-12 he was actually giving as good as he got, maybe a little more so. AB could have quit like Ortiz, but he stuck it out, that impressed me as much as Marcos performance.
The guy is tough, he can take a beating. He's a good heavybag, love how he tried to break maidanas hands with his head.
