Because in boxing somebody who's trained to the gills is punching you as hard as they can.

Taking a punch well is critical.

I don't think he plans to take many punches from big punchers. He can outbox most of these guys and seems to have enough power at 140 to make them think 2x.

 

Gamboa is fast as hell. Even though he was a blown up featherweight, he probably carried some of his power up.

The fighters at 140 are not nearly as fast. Crawford will see the punches.

 

So you are saying it was not a good punch he caught Crawford with.

Some people only talk about "power" as if well timed, accurate punches mean nothing. Bradley lifted Pacquiao off his feet with the RIGHT punch...and he is also known as "feather fisted", even at his best weight. The difference is Gamboa actually could punch at his natural weight.

Crawford is much better than Broner. But, Broner might have the better natural physical gifts.
