    I saw Willie Pep in his prime but to put him ahead of a Harry Greb is foolish. Sammy Angott, a spoiler with a smidgen of Greb's speed and volume punching nullified Pep's boxing,and defeated Willie in 1943. Willie though the best boxer I ever saw,wasn;t rugged enough to do what Greb
    did with bigger men...

    Ali would come the closest. But when you put his fame to the side and look closely at their respective resumes it really isn't close. I personally would rate him closer to say Barney Ross and around 12 to 18 all time. Haven't done a list in awhile so I can't be sure, but he doesn't make my top 10.
