I don't consider myself a fan of Fury but he has won the English title, British title, Commonwealth title and European title and has got a shot to become a world champion, not bad for a "hype job".
Hate to repeat myself, but hasn't fought anyone at his or Wlad's size still. He was tested and by my and most people's opinions lost a fight early in his career to John Mcdermott for the English title. He has not really earned this title fight on merit, as has not beaten anybody of world quality yet. He has came on leaps and bounds above my estimations, but to be honest, he should have had a few tune-up fights against larger heavyweights. The potential Ustinov fight unfortunately coincided with the death of his uncle - if that fight could have gone ahead at another date it would have given a better idea of how set up he is to deal with such an opponent. It will be an intriguing fight while it lasts, anyway. Hopefully not too much clinching!
i wouldnt mind seeing him demolish wlad. the heavyweight division needs some excitement again. just imagine if he beats wlad. we might see fury vs wilder and that will be fun to watch with all the trash talking they will do before the fight
In fairness Wladimir didn't beat anybody "world class" before he won a world title. You say he hasn't fought anybody his size (or Wlad's) Fury is 6'9", not many fighters his size but he has fought Firtha who is the same size as Wladimir, Nascimento was an inch shorter, so was Blasko and a couple at 6'4" so he has fought a few big men, they were not good quality but I'm sure he does and will get very good sparring from bigger men. I was just saying he hasn't done badly so far for somebody being called a "hype job".
He is over hyped and mostly by himself considering his level of comp and the fighters he has already ducked. Yes he has one some titles, but look whats out there at heavyweight. He has avoided anyone percieved as dangerous in order to secure this payday.
Of course he has time, but thats not the point. The point is he has used his mouth to get him a world tile shot, not his fists. He had chances to fight some guys that would have elevated his status had he beat them, but he backed out instead. A clever game plan to get the big money, but nothing that actually makes him deserving. That is why he is a hype job. His skills are sub par, but with todays heavyweight scene and his mouth I guess thats enough to get a shot at the heavyweight champion of the world. Maybe he actually becomes a worthy contender down the road, but right know I just dont see it.
Don't care much for Fury though I wish him the best of luck....heck he may impress us though logically speaking doubt he makes it past the midway point.
Im simply just a boxing fan. I'll leave the politics and "racialism" to those more qualified in such matters than myself.
