I have never been a bias person person when it comes to boxing...but what I've heard in regards to Froch seems to come from a bias bunch. I will say he has always been a very tough, determined, strong and awkward fighter. All of which have aided in his victories over the course of his career. I hear of how granite his chin is, yet he has been dropped or badly wobbled 4-5 times in his career. He is crude at times, ALTHOUGH effective...yet he seems to be held higher than some of his contemporaries and people that have beaten him. I'd like to know how do you guys feel he would have done against James Toney, Gerald McClellan, chad dawson or chris eubank
Carl Froch fought in the 168 pound division and was known to take bombs flush on the face from big punchers. In the SMW division if you get hit flush on the jaw you will go down. Yet he was never stopped. Actually he would get off the canvas and then stop the opponent.
Yes, and I understand that...and give him all the respect in the world as being a very tough fighter. But when he was fighting they were giving him accolades comparing his chin to lamotta and saying he had an "All Time" chin. When someone mentions "All time Chins" I think Oliver Mcall, James Toney, Hagler, Ali, Lamotta, Chuvalo, etc
Carl Froch has been and will always be a caveman fighter. He is the English version of Sakio Bika but, because of his fate of popping out of his mama's crotch in England he gets a pass as a great on BN24 forums. Ward tore his ass up and he has been bitter about it since. Frosh got Dirrell robbed after getting his flat head boxed to bits and Calzaghe would have slapped him silly with his feather fist of fury too but Carl was younger and we know cocaine Joe only fights old men.
And it's another episode of "Let's undermine the accomplishments of Andre Ward". Can one be any more cliche'?
Carl Froch is one of the toughest fighters I have ever seen. He could take more abuse and punishment than just about anybody. It was like he would get rocked and be like "**** it". Sometimes he would even go down. Then he would just walk through everything until he was in range and then punch.
Wtf all the fncking duckers we have and this the mfing legacy y’all tryna sh1t on.. Andre Ward whipped him and the Dirrell fight was close but this mfer really fought any and everybody in his era around his weight class and only lost 2 fights.. I will not join in bashing somebody that wasn’t afraid to jump in the ring against anybody when we have Superpimp ducking his mandatory for 5 yrs
Froch somehow always seemed to dig himself out of a hole (almost). If not in a fight, in rankings and public opinion. So is success where always of the most satisfying or disconcerting. That shows a lot of heart, resilience and hardiness. Those are values most of us love and aspire to. Sometimes you lose to amorale unethical foes, who can seem strong or smart to many. But you just carry on without them. Froch is a people champ.
Froch ducked no one and every boxing fan can recognize that. Iron chin, great heart, solid puncher. Not the greatest set of skills but always did good against the top guys he fought. Froch is everything that is good about boxing unlike the divas like Mayweather, Canelo that are more businessman than boxers. As for Chickenson, the ducking champ, I prefer not talk about him. This is why boxing fans recognized and respect him.
People who hate Froch are typically Calzaghe fans who feel threatened because Froch did more and has a more solid resume. It’s as simple as that. Froch didn’t end up being a folk hero like Calzaghe who has a pathetic excuse of a resume for someone claimed as an ATG. Froch actually went in and put in work. He overachieved where as someone like Calzaghe is another make believe hero like a Tyson Fury who gets overpraised for mediocrity period. Calzaghe leaves a big question mark for how great he truly was in fantasy land. Froch has tangible accomplishments that hold more water than Calzaghes. You can hate all you want but Froch only lost to the best and he ruined hypejobs in the process. He was a hard worker/gym rat who dedicated himself to the sport. You can’t hate on a dude like that. Calzaghe quit when **** finally got real. This is why people like Bhop still rank in front of him.
I tend to agree with you on this. Froch was a tough warrior, taking nothing away from his talent, but he never impressed me as elite.
