Great post! Dawson is simply to risky of a fight for Joe at this stage in his career. Fighting an old guys like himself in Jones or Tarver would be the smarter choice.

 

All been said before.. in many peoples minds Lacy would EASILY beat JC. I suggest half the posters on here need to re-watch that fight and the Kessler fight as well as other JC fights. You appear to again judge JC based on fighting a guy who didn't want to fight in Bhop. Bhop makes everyone look bad as is clear from his previous fights.

As has been said by many professional (not arm-chair) commentators there is no-one at middleweight/super-middleweight/light heavyweight that would not have trouble fighting JC.

 

You just don't get it do you? Johnson isn't an easy fight for anyone at 175 he's very tough and comes to fight. The guy wouldn't be stopped by anyone at 175 and has one of the best chins in the sport. It really shows your lack of knowledge about Johnson the fighter when you make statements like this. Johnson would give Calzaghe or Kessler hell if he fought them. Dawson passed the test in that fight he faced some adversity was hurt badly didn't go down and continued to fight on. That's exactly what you want to see out of a young fighter and now that he has been tested he'll be better for it.

 

I love this site....Dawson struggles against an old strong vet and he's exposed....Joe C struggles against an older strong vet and he's God. I guess we've thrown objectivity out the window a long time ago.

 

We disagree then. I see Dawson giving Calzaghe fits with his jab, speed and combo punching. Not to mention he's a big LHW at 6'3 he has the reach on Joe. The Johnson fight was a great learning experience in that he was in the ring with a tough savvy vet and still came through to win. I see Joe getting beat with Dawson's jab, movement and getting hit alot with his combos. Calzaghe will return fire but his punches won't have the snap on them that Dawson's will. Hell if Hopkins can drop Joe then Dawson who hits harder can. Not to mention Chad won't fade like Hopkins did. I see Chad beating Joe 7-5 in a great fight.

 

Damn I wish PBF and Cotto where 6foot super middle weights so they could clear things up for us.

In all fairness, I havent seen a great deal of Dawson's career so cant say this authoratitively, so I'm looking for an answer to this... Has Dawson fought a southpaw and how did he get on?

My thinking is that Dawson does have the range and has a good jab to go with it. But a world class fighter like Joe, being a southpaw too, will have no problem with it. People forget that southpaw's struggle just as much facing a southpaw as an orthodox fighter does. Joe's experience in this department will help.

As for Dawson's power, I'm sure if he caught Joe flush then he'd put him on his back. But in 12 rounds of boxing Hopkins only put Joe down once - I cant see Dawson bettering that at all!

I'll go back to the point I made earlier because I think its the most important... Dawson doesnt get out of the way quick enough. He comes in and stays in - thats where Joe would win it!

Chad fought Harding who's a southpaw and he did get dropped in that fight but came on strong to dominate and win by wide UD.
