Man These guys are overrated. Teofimo - Beat Loma who fought a **** game plan. He beat himself. The he lost to Kambosos. Kambosos - Owned by Haney, 2nd time around has a good game plan for ONE Round. Then in round 2, he fainted, used footwork, head movement, and didn't throw. Got a decision win in a fight he clearly lost. Haney - Lost to Loma fact. When Loma actually fought. Didn't outsmart himself and went to box/fight Shakur - Hype Job. Charlo - flees the division after ducking Tim not once but twice. Gets belted and runs away. Kambosos not on their level obviously. And yes some of these guys fought each other. The fact remains that most boxers these days are so overrated hype jobs. Shakur Stevenson is a goose. Or a Turkey, take your pick.
Tszyu’s win over Harrison better than a win over Herring. Tszyu’s win over Mendoza better win than a win over Valdez
Are you high? Shakur-Valdez was a big fight a unification fight and the winner was supposed to be ranked in the top 10 p4p it was a great win and performance. What belt did Harrison have? He looked shot no legs and it still took a power puncher in Timmy a long time to get him out of there. Mendoza is Timmys best win and what belt did he have who ever rated him? Shakurs wins over Robson Valdez Herring and others much better than anyone Timmy beat.
There's no need to overreact to one fight. Will Stevenson captivate the boxing world like a young Manny or Floyd? No, he's not as good nor is style likely to be fan-pleasing as he faces stiffer competition (and maybe we can dispense with the nonsense that he shuts out Loma). But he's still a damn good young fighter and a future P4P top 5 guy.
In all seriousness we have been hearing about him being the Next Big Thing in Boxing from the top tier active & retired boxers & correct me if i'm wrong but weren't Ward, Floyd & Crawford just posing right beside him in the photo ups recently not to mention interview & article after article stating the same over the last few years now?
They're both playing the waiting game god knows if one of them loses their precious 0 in their record it will be stroke season for either fighter & their die hard followers.
I doubt he achieves too 5 p4p by any objective measure. Last night said a lot about him, and it wasn’t good.
I agree that last night raised questions. I am not, however, prepared to discount the talent I can easily discern over one lamentable outing. That's foolish. Let's see how he looks over his next 3-4 fights as his opposition stiffens. If he falls short of expectations, I'll certainly acknowledge as much.
