I've seen news articles written about AJ v Fury undisputed fight not really being able to happen next year unless belts are dropped... but why? I can completely understand why Usyk eventually got his shot, but who else in any other boxing organisations rankings has done enough to earn a shot? Especially to the degree where they can say "I shouldn't be waiting for no undisputed fight to happen, I am THE MANDATORY". --------------------------- WBO - Joshua (c) ---------------- Usyk Joyce Parker Ruiz Jr Usyk is getting his shot, but after that, who in that list has done enough to earn a shot? Parker and Ruiz haven't. Joyce has probably earned an eliminator, but no a shot yet. Beating Dubois and Takam is decent, but it's not even Chisora quality level of opponent, but nevertheless, he's been active and challenged decent opponents, he deserves a title eliminator, but beating Takam should not get you a shot. So if Usyk gets beat, no one else is really entitled to claim they deserve an immediate shot. ------------------------------------ IBF - Joshua (c) -------------------------- Martin Usyk Hrgovic Parker Why the **** Martin is up there, I have no idea. Usyk is already getting a shot elsewhere. Hrgovic has fought no one to prove himself, although him being ducked is not his fault, he should have to fight someone else of note first before claiming he's entitled to a shot. Perhaps Hrgovic can eventually claim a mandatory spot if more and more times goes by and the IBF try to arrange an eliminator but it just doesn't happen, but I certainly don't agree that Hrgovic has done enough to force a title fight, to the degree that it pushes the undisputed fight in back. No one in that list has done enough to consider themselves that important. WBC - Fury (C) ------------------------------- Whyte - Interim Wilder Ruiz JR Joyce Ortiz Parker If anyone is going to claim a shot after this, it would be Whyte, but he did lose to Povetkin. He beat Povetkin in the rematch but it wasn't even just a shot Povetkin anymore. It was a shot Povetkin who was barely able to maintain his balance after the impact of Covid on him. Should Whyte eventually get a shot? Maybe, but has he done enough to consider himself so entitled to a shot that the undisputed fight should be put aside? No. Definitely not. We all know that there's a 95% chance he'd get absolutely rinsed vs Fury or AJ. WBA - Joshua (C) ---------------------- Bryan (lol) - Best win Sitverne. Dubois (lol) - Best win Bogdan Dinu. Hunter Helenius Usyk <---- Makes sense....! Hughie Fury - Just ****ing lol. Just lol at this crap. I don't even have to make an argument. -------------- In conclusion, who has done enough, after Wilder and Usyk, to derail any undisputed fight plans? Should aj and fury win, there should be nothing to stop it, in my opinion.
I agree completely. That fact of the matter is, the fight will only take place when promotional/management groups from both sides feel like profit can be absolutely maximized. If that happens in 2022 then great! it certainly has nothing to do with who has or has not earned a shot though, it is all about the money, and a 100% capacity stadium along with whatever laundry list of demands that are yet to be met is the only way forward.
