:hi: I have been thinking alot about this mega matchup. I am a fan of both fighters, and in all reality although I am Puerto Rican; the winners in this matchup is US the Fans!

Now, on the matchup itself. Top Rank is genius... if Cotto looses to Pacman he can say it was the weight issue and is still a major draw at 147, if Pacman looses he can say Cotto was too big and is still champ at 140 and can still fight Mayweather vs. Marquez winner........

So in reality, both win regardless!

Now, the fight itself I see Cotto winning. Let me explain why. I dont feel Manny can outbrawl Cotto. I also don't feel he is a better boxer than Cotto.

The way I see the fight playing out is Pacman coming in an possibly winning the first 2 to 3 rounds. As the fight goes on, Cotto will be getting closer and closer until the point where Pacman's natural warrior instincts take over.

Pacman will not be able to hit and run for 12 rd's will Cotto. Style makes fight. Top Ranks knows this. Pacman will loose either a UD if he runs, or via TKO or Stoppage if he brawls.

Pacman will still be heralded as a fighter who has huge heart because he didnt have to fight Cotto, he didnt have to move up and fight a bigger man & this will still bring intrigue for Mayweather vs. Pacman.

Cotto moves up again to 147 & probably faces a scrub because Berto and Shane are fighting...

Thats how I see it !

Good stuff but Roach has stated that Manny will not be standing in front of Cotto.
Manny is going to bring a similar gameplan to the one used on DLH speed, angles, in and out punching head and body movement etc Manny is very good at this i expect him to totally frustrate Cotto in the first half of the fight but i think once things settle in Cotto will have his chances to turn the fight around.

Cotto won't be able to handle a southpaw...will get hit a lot, and swell up.

    Pacman by late TKO.

good one! Pacman will have no problem find a space between cottos guard and will give him all kind of punches! but once cotto made same adjustments i have no doubt manny will get caught evrytime he gets near
and cotto will stop pacman! Its just the question how long will cotto need to do these adjustments in the ring?

I feel you, but I just feel we are giving Manny too much credit on this one. Oscar at no point in time cut off the ring, or pressed Manny. Hatton all of did was go in there without a game plan and even without it, he landed a couple of good shots on Pacman which made Pacman do this :happywith his gloves which means he felt them and he wanted to bring it on.....

Manny cannot outbox Cotto for 12 rounds.... I just don't see it. Even Sugar Shane Mosley which is a better boxer than Pacman couldnt outbox Cotto.

Manny will be using his foot speed, hand speed, different angles and a lot of punches in bunches to frustrate Cotto But yes your right about DLH and Hatton those two fights cannot be used as indicator's as to how effective Pac will be against Cotto we will have to wait and see i guess Im picking Cotto by late stoppage or decision..

If Cotto could handle Zab, I really don't see why he wouldn't be able to handle Manny who is slower, less technically refined, and less powerful than the Zab Cotto fought. I'm waiting to see how Manny reacts to the low blows though, I'm sure Cotto is going to throw a couple of them when Manny starts pressing early on.

Manny style in itself will bother Cotto. As big as Cotto is he can be backed up. Cotto probably is a better boxer but Manny has too many angles for him imo. And Cotto's head doesn't move enough.

You are Puerto Rican. And your fellow Puerto Rican will lose. I don't see how Manny outboxing Cotto is unimaginable. That's just silly.

If Manny's right hand wasn't as good as it is right now I would pick Cotto.

good non hating post from a PR fan. we need more of this in ESB.

For me, it all boils down to Cotto's footwork and pac's ability to hurt Cotto.

Cotto would need good footwork to corner pac, while Pac needs to show he can hurt Cotto with his punches. The fight will tilt on a sliding scale depending on how much either can implement their side.

If both fail, it will be a long boring fight with cotto battered but standing and pac spent and tired at the end of 12 rounds.
