I don't think Paul Williams is shot or really past it...

The dude just needs to avoid fighting southpaws or slick boxer types. He needs to run as far away from Martinez as possible. Though Lara deserves a rematch, it would be in the best interest of Paul if that didn't happen. While it's true that Paul's stamina really plummeted in the Lara fight, I think that was due to him chasing Lara around and eating all those straight left hands. It's clear that Paul has trouble defending against the left hand from a southpaw, and it's also clear that he struggles against slick fighters who potshot. But there's plenty of opponents at 154/160 who don't fit that description and who can give us some great fights. Cotto, Alvarez, Chavez Jr., Angulo, Margarito rematch, Wolak, etc... All would be fun fights to watch.

Paul Williams earned a title shot against Saul Alvarez with his convincing victory versus Lara....the public demands it.

He basically needs to stop fighting any fighter that can counter punch. That's it.

Seeing as Alvarez is slow and doesn't like to counter, Williams would be okay there.

martinez really hurt this guy and lara more then likely has made it worse hes not shot today but in his next fight all we say he needs to retire lara broke this man martinez put him on the path to it

PW is a guy that could fight a decade longer if emanuel steward trained him and he stayed at 147

He is fine he just doesn't know how to fight using his physical advantage. He doesn't even use his jab, I'm not saying he should completely change his style , but dude you can not be that effecting with those long ass arms and fighting as if he's shorter than all of his opponent he's going to get nailed.

One of the reasons he gets countered is because he launches in and over reaching with his punches which leaves him wide open for any counter shots. At least use the jab as a range finder if you are not going to do anything else with it , but I can't be mad at Paul he does have a ****ing terrible trainer it's a shame how stupid his trainer can be really.

He should retire. He's reached his ceiling in boxing, IMO. He is not the type of fighter who can reinvent himself, this late in his career. He has had a good career, for the most part, though.

He needs to stay FAR AWAY from Sergio Martinez. He may as well come out in a Snuggie for a robe, if he takes this fight.

Love ESB. Williams was the next best thing not too long ago and now he is shot or should retire or has to fight certain type fighters. It's like I said before, he needs to pick the weight class like 147 and stay there for a while instead of jumping around weight classes. I did not buy that WW were afraid to fight him back when he was a WW. He needs to take on a few tune-up fights to see where he belongs. I remember posters were already comparing him with Hearns and other greats. Posters should just watch and learn. It is like Brandon Rios. Oh, he is the next great thing and who knows if he gets knocked out in his next fight and all of a sudden, Oh, I knew he did not have the goods.

Okay career. He knocked out Quintana who beat him the first time out. He moved up and down from 154 to 160 and struggled with Cintron. I felt he lost to Martinez the first time and then gets knocked out by Martinez and now Lara. Too many holes in his career. It is not too late though. Of course he can reinvent himself. He just needs one or two soft touches and works more on his defence and he will be ready for top contenders at 154 then 160.

Paul Williams isn't shot, he'sjust been decyphered. His weakness has been exploited, the blueprint is now available.

Max Kellerman falls in love with certain boxers....Williams is the lastest.....(Previously it was Chad Dawson). HBO will continue to showcase Williams because of it until his final interview is done as he is released from a hospital.

I don't know if he is shot or not, but one thing for sure is his handlers have no clue on how to make their fighter look good. Lara was a big mistake. He should have been matched against Cintron who was coming off a long lay-off himself.
