Did you see the Lara fight? Dude was dead in there, pushing his punches and stumbling around like a drunk. The guy that was there for the first two Martinez fights is history, the Williams we saw yesterday was only the shadow of a shadow.
Paul Williams is great but everyone involved with grand cheater Al Haymon eventually gets cursed in one way or another and its just a matter of time that cronies like Goosen and Sam Watson & Sons get theirs
It's hard to say for sure if last night was indicative of significant ring rust or if it showed Williams was a shot fighter. Either way, when when Quintana and Martinez were making him look silly, he still had moments in those fights and had no issues putting punches together. Last night, he could barely string together a decent combination and was seemingly stunned everytime he took a flush shot from a guy who is only a moderate puncher. His next fight should answer a lot of questions.
No, Williams isn't shot he just can't deal with southpaws, all 3 of his losses have been to lefties. Could he be on the decline? Possibly, he has had his share of tough fights-Margarito, Martinez 2x, and Lara- all very physical fights where he took some punishment and even in some of his wins he takes his fair share of punches so its possible he could be in decline, I'm not sure yet. He needs to be matched up better in the future and there is no way he could sell another Martinez fight at this point.
This Lara beating is worse than a second round KO by Martinez. Williams got beat up in there for 12 rounds
