Garcia, though gaining notoriety for this win, isn't going to do much for him otherwise, as he's now moving up to Welterweight, where his left hook isn't going to have the same effect on elite Welterweights. That and the fact that his defense is suspect is going to make it very hard for him to keep those guys off of him. Haney probably will not be the same after this fight, that was a pretty good beating and usually guys in those sort of fights leave something in the ring. Blood is in the water now and the other champs in that division see the weaknesses and will be lining up to fight him. What a roller coaster it was for him- on top of the world and P4P ranked after beating Prograis, then the very next fight gets hammered by a guy most thought he'd coast through.
i mean crawford wont be around much longer.. 147 will have 3 vacant belts im sure ryan could pick up one and defend it few times before losing to someone like ennis or another top ww. so his future isnt that bad lol..
We don't know what Garcia's next move is to be honest. He may or may not stay at welterweight. There's a few decent fights at the weight for him anyway Broner being one. Garcia will fare better at WW than Haney at LWW.
I think Haney has maximised his potential and has little scope to improve; his two biggest flaws, namely his lack of chin and lack of power, are intrinsic and can't really be improved upon. Garcia on the other hand has a lot of scope for improvement; he beat Haney pretty much without using his jab, whilst also occasionally throwing in his terrible shoulder roll. If he can find the right trainer and most importantly listen to them, then Garcia can make massive improvements and potentially beat anyone at 140.
Both have certain skills bu both are limited. I think Garcia has more potential with his base of natural speed and power. He needs to round out his skill set with a jab and better defense. Haney has peaked. He did get up from the knockdowns but so do many fighters. I don’t see what he can add that will increase his potential. He can’t increase his power cause you either have it or you don’t, and his punch resistance is very average which will ultimately be his undoing.
Ryan has more potential to improve and keep making money, at the end of the day he is a cheap version of ODLH. He has natural talent and has more charisma to sell than anyone around. I honestly don’t even know anyone around the WW division other than Crawford. I bet most of those guys are lining up to fight him after he said he’s moving up. I think win or lose Ryan will attract decent viewers until he chooses to retire.
