Holyfield went life and death with Alex Stewart and Bert Cooper of all people. He struggled against a 42 year old Holmes. If somebody magically erased your knowledge of holyfields career and first showed you Tysons wins from 86 to 96 and then the above Holyfield fights what conclusion would you come to? Styles make fights.
Fabio ''Future Champ'' Wardley has sparred Usyk numerous times and he's just been in camp with AJ helping him prepare for Pulev Timestamped This content is protected Obviously we already have the likes of Fury, AJ, Joyce, Whyte, Chisora, Hughie, Dubois, and Gorman running tings on the world scene up at HW but best believe we got plenty of young hungry lions coming up to take over the next era when their domination comes to its end in Wardley, David Adeleye, and Johnny ''The Romford Bull'' Fischer and Wardley is leading the pack and mark my words it's only a matter of time before he takes over
I wish we could dispense with the myth that the Chisora fight was somehow close, or dangerous. Usyk outlanded Chisora in ten of twelve rounds, staggered him in the seventh, and did all that throwing about 2/3 of what he did in the Gassiev fight. The cards were close because Chisora was the house fighter. That is all.
He's very intelligent and well spoken, would make a great analyst in the future. Having an understanding of the game will help him become a better fighter as well.
It wasn't close, but Usyk wasn't as dominant as I expected. I scored it 9-3 Usyk, but two of the rounds he won we're close IMO. I expected more from Usyk. It wasn't that impressive of a performance.
This. Chisora was competitive in the early rounds, but by the midrounds Usyk was wearing him out and Chisora looked like he wanted out of the fight in the corner, but to their credit they were able to calm him down and get him to continue the fight. I don’t think Joshua or Fury would have an easy time with Usyk.
Yeah he's a very likeable chap and he speaks very well. I've watched a lot of his interviews and I always enjoy listening to his take on things.
Usyk's style does not translate well to a win over Fury, but I do believe his style could take care of the rest of the division. Of course AJ will be a handful for anyone with any style, however I could see Usyk having success and winning rounds as long as he can avoid taking bombs from AJ, because I do think AJ can end it if he is able to find Usyk's chin early. More times than not I think Usyk is able to go 12 against him though. As a gambling man I would take Fury against anyone, and would take Usyk against anyone not named Fury. The odds for an Usyk win straight up against AJ would likely be pretty tantalizing, and I wouldn't be able to stay away from it. But it is a close fight indeed.
Again, and again, that is because he threw about 2/3 of the punches he does at his best...which is what he always does in easy fights. I posted the punch stats of every one of his major fights in another thread. It was a sparring match, basically.
Chisora was a man who is b- fighter with a shorter reach and shorter that was huffing and puffing after the first
Looked very unimpressive against a gate keeper ranked outside the top 10. Can’t see him beating Joshua or Fury. He could outbox Wilder until Wilder lands on him eventually, Wilder wouldn’t be hesitant to let his bombs go due to Usyk having little pity paty punches.
Holyfield went up to heavyweight when he was like 26. Usyk will be 34 before he fights a decent heavyweight.
Usyk didn't even take up boxing until he was 15 y/o and he turned pro a couple of months before his 27th birthday. Conversely, Holyfield was 7 y/o when he took up boxing and he turned pro a month after his 22nd birthday. And going into the Chisora fight Usyk had only fought once in just under two years due to injury and Covid.
