I don't understand how anyone can disrespect Bernard Hopkins.

Can anyone name an athlete, who's led a more dedicated life than Hopkins? For so many years as-well.

Same here. The Calzaghe and Jones rolling around on the canvas displays were pretty bad, though. That's what I would take issue with. Hard for me to believe he was really in agonizing pain from those taps to the cup and the back of the head, especially when he came back full-force to end the rounds after getting those short breaks

 Yeah, he can be a complete douche nozzle, but playacting to get an advantage because you're an old, sneaky, shady **** is one thing, quitting another. :yep

My 13 year old son separated his should and finished a football game before we took him to the doctors. He didn't roll around on the ground like someone shot him with sniper rifle.

He came to the sideline, said his shoulder hurt. He could move it so he went back in. He finished with 6 tackles and his shoulder still hurt after the game. We took him to the doctor and he said it was a second degree separation.

    He played the next week.

So do I think Hopkins was faking it to get out of the fight. Absolutely.

I like Hopkins and see him as an ATG fighter. Now if he retired in his 30's, I might feel differently (about the ATG part). But, his overall body of work is quite good up to this point and considering we still give him the benefit of the doubt vs any active fighter at LHW (when his career has largely been at MW) is remarkable based on his age, etc. He has put himself in a class that few fighters are in (none of whom are still active). With that being said, he has no shame in winning any way possible...even if that means spoiling the fight for the paying viewers. I would never pay for another Hopkins fight (haven't since that Jones debacle...only did that because I split the cost and I am a big fan of both guys). Great fighter != PPV attraction. But, I respect him as a fighter and how we used boxing to turn his life from one of ruin to one of success. He's quite disciplined and smart.

Dude you paid for the Jones fight? Why? :-(

It's probably the worst fight I have ever seen in my life, including gym fights.

Either he separated his shoulder or he faked an injury. You can't have it both ways. Did he exaggerate the pain caused by the injury that he clearly sustained? Maybe, maybe not. Maybe your kid has an abnormally high threshold for pain. Maybe his separation wasn't as bad. I broke my hand in a fight when I was a kid and didn't even know it until several hours later. I've seen guys break their hands in fights and quit. Does that mean they were faking?

I broke my hand in my last amatuer fight on someones hip bone  I spent the rest of the fight jabbing, and feinting with that hand (Even that hurt) the guy's corner soon cottoned on and I took a battering. Not fought since :-(

Hopkins is the man. One of my all-time favorite fighters.

You have to respect what that guy came from and what he has made of himself.

Lost all respect for Hopkins after the Dawson fight. And those cosmetic glasses aren't helping either.
