I don't understand how people think Canelo will beat Golovkin

Seriously, I don't really get it. All of Canelo's opposition has not even been close to Golovkin's level, and the only time he stepped up he got dominated by a smaller Mayweather.

How is he going to beat a knockout machine boxing specialist in Golovkin at 160 lbs? Canelo dominated some bum like Chavez Jr and Golovkin went to the cards against the best 160 lb fighter available (who really truly belongs at 168 lb) and now Canelo has a chance?

This fight is a freaking mismatch. Boxing fans are so unkowledgeable. Golovkin-Jacobs was the only real threat to Golovkin, and Golovkin won that. Canelo is just another guy who is gonna taste the canvas in the early rounds and get finished off late in the fight after getting dominated.

well GGG does look like he may be slipping abit in his last 2 fights so theres that. but I still think GGG will pull It off.

I see Canelo being competitive for the 1st 2 rounds and then just gets really beaten up, i really cant see any other outcome other than a 1 sided beating. Im also far from convinced Golovkins decline is what people are making it out to be. They may come in around the same size, Canelo may even be the bigger by fight time but Golovkin is going to look like he is just way too big and strong for Canelo. The Mexican wont be able to compete against the best Middleweights, especially this one.

2 years ago I would agree with you but there are unknowns in this fight. Is GGG slipping or is Jacobs really that good? Canelo isn't big like Jacobs though. Canelo gets better in each fight I see him also. He also looks good at what he's doing. GGG seems like he is wearing out. But the beauty of this is we will find out soon. I enjoy watching both fighters though. If GGG is still the same as he was a year a ago I think he could wear Canelo out in the end.

Canelo is more than capable of beating GG's ass.

neither has a very good resume in all honesty. canelo's fought a better class of opponent overall but has either lost or won razor thin decisions in those fights, while ggg's biggest fight to date was also a razor thin decision. i agree with the OP that ggg should be clear favourite though; unless canelo learns to fight like jacobs overnight, he's going to be taking an awful lot of punishment. let's not forget even chavez jr's was pounding him to the body on the ropes at times. canelo is probably a better fighter than jacobs overall, but styles make fights and ggg will much prefer facing a guy like canelo.

I think Alvarez has a very good beard and won't get stopped by Golovkin. If it goes to the cards, anything can happen. Alvarez is a very live dog in this fight.

I think overall the fight will look competitive early, then WHAM! Canelo gets caught with a nice counter, his head snaps back and the sweat sprays into a mist and creates a rainbow. He goes down.

    But idk we'll see...

    Floyd Mayweather
    Erislandy Lara
    Austin Trout
    Miguel Cotto
    James Kirkland
    Shane Mosley

Looks like a great resume to me, especially when you consider fought all of them by the age of 25.

I don't see anything special about canelo average power average stamina slow feet average hand speed crap defence. I just hear Delahoyas hype and it's pathetic.

But none of them are middleweights and all of them are smaller than Alvarez, Lara is closest to him in size and Lara gave Canelo hell. So that resume may look nice but doesn't matter much against Golovkin.

Why does he keep retreating to the ropes and just put the earmuffs on and get hammered. He did it with beefy and junior and will do it with GGG. He can not move for three minutes of each round and always retreats to the ropes and gets his head bounced around.
