The Maccarinelli fight wasn't on Sky, and Haye has said that he stayed in training pretty much straight after the Mormeck fight to control his weight, so I think it was always in their plan.

Okay, Setanta, my bad - it got bigger through the hype, so Haye stayed at cruiser. I don't buy that it was always in his plan - I don't take much that Haye says at face value, he said he would never fight Harrison and bring the glory back to heavyweight boxing, after all! - so I think that it was still a convenience pick once the money stacked up.

Lets get a few things straight.

Some have mentioned that Haye was always about the money, but thats not true.

At first he was all about fighting the best AVAILABLE opponent. This stopped after the Barrett fight, his popularity grew, and grew did the interpretation of him as a fighter.

I said on many occasions the writing was on the wall on each performance Valuev, Ruiz, Harrison...major flaws and stagnation were aparent. He lost the eye of the tiger, he wore silk pjames to bed, he fought sporadically against hand picked opponents. His abilty and potential far greater than performances.

It happened to Tyson, happened to Bowe...fighters just lose the lust.

Sad thing for Haye was he could have done so much more, even the Wlad fight it showed how difficult it was to beat David, speed, reflexes and punching power...he had alot of gifts. If he fights Vitali, he will be hunted down and lose again....his balls are gone.

If he ever had it he lost it after Thompson, in my opinion, not later. Mormeck was old and there for the taking and Haye knew it.

We just disagree, so despite your opinion being presented as fact I still disagree with it.

I know this sounds harsh but I hope Vitali absolutely ruins Haye.

The guy is a cash&grab merchant who was only ever in boxing for it's purses. It hurts me that fans travlled from Britain to Germany to watch the fight and basically watched him do next to **** all for 12 rounds and blame the whole charade on a broken toe. It is inexcusable imho.

I believe at cruiserweight, he did fight the best opponents when he could fight them and when they were available. I just think he cashed out at heavyweight, fighting an idiot like Harrison and taking the cheap route to a world title through Valuev so that he could maximise his purse against the Klit's.

The problem is, there is nobody else at heavyweight, they're all ****. Tyson Fury and David Price are reasonable prospects, not established talent, it speaks volumes of the depth in talent in the HW division that Wlad scheduled himself to face ****in Chisora of all people twice, someone Fury dismantled and dismantled easily.

There is nobody to face the Klit's worth mentioning now that Adamek has gone and looked just as bad as Haye (albiet being braver about losing), Haye is a good fighter, an ATG at cruiserweight but he is just to small to go against the Klit's and have any chance. Most of us knew this before the Wlad fight but because of his mouth and the lack of anyone at HW to challenge K2 we built our hopes up and denied the obvious (myself included), it'll be the same with Vitali although probably less of us will kid ourselves and hey with Vitali's age now, he has to slip off at some point.

I have no problems with the fight but make no mistake about it, Haye is cashing out and will most likely employ the same strategy he did for Valuev, Wlad and until he realised just how **** he was; Audley. It's sad to say but I can't wait for K2 to retire just so there is a point to watching a HW world title contest, they're just too good and too big for the people in the division at the minute.

Something is telling me you actually beleive what ur saying here ?? :huh

Haye talked the talk and never delivered as a HW , not once in any one of his HW fights did i say this man is the future of this division , when he needed to deliver a career best performance he couldnt , because he was in there with a better man , and still he came up with **** excuses , he couldnt look Klitschko in the eye and say your the better man , even though everybody knows thats the case .

Look man i like Haye , but you gotta call a spade a spade and Haye isnt an elite HW , if he was seriously putting legacy before ££$$ , he'd have another fight signed and sealed and he'd be plotting his way back to the #1 contender's slot for another shot at Wlad , not talking about postponing his retirement for one more big payday , he should retire and leave the sport , that way we'll all know where we are with him , if for some reason he has a reality check and realises that a) with a few adjustments he can beat Wlad and b) get the idea of retiring and becoming a filmstar out of his head then id re tune into Haye , but right now i couldnt care less what he does
