i have to admit i was expecting shane to gas out, but he seemed as quick as he was 8 yrs ago,,, well done sugar
It's not fair to say Margarito was exposed. He was systematically outboxed and outfought by the superior fighter tonight. Sugar Shane's performance will be considered legendary.
Yaeh If you look I wouldn't exactly say exposed. Cause it was the same old margorito in there tonight that in there every night (illigal hand wraps asside). But this will certainly expose him to those who though he was something he wasn't. Boxers almost never actually get exsposed so much as that a fight can sometimes clearly show people who didn't see before what a boxer's limitions where truely are. I will say the cheating with his hands was an exposure though. Cause with something like that you have to re-evaluate manny things that he's done in the past. AS far as tonights fight went you were bang on with the comments on what mosely was doing. The biggest thing i felt though was mosely's speed. Margo just was never ready to hit mosely back after he got hit by him and that was simply because the punches were coming too fast. And the speed is also what opened up the body and what made the punches hurt much more then they did against Cotto. Its one thing to take a punch when your read to take it its another thing to take it when you're not prepared.
At 37 Mosley's work rate was and his conditioning was amazing. Credit to Shane that was great fight, but surely some of today's older athletes pulling of performances like this has to be attributed to advances in nutritional supplements or maybe sports medicine which keeps em younger.
thirty years ago there wasn't really any such thing as sports medicine. Just family doctors that did work outside of their own practice. Know there's sports medicine docs in every division of medicine that make a living doing nothing but sports science. Its clearly making a huge difference for those who are taking advantage of it.
awesome stuff from the sugaman! i predicted a close ud for margarito, but i'm glad to be wrong. fantastics stuff out there. shane always had the style to beat him, i just was'nt sure if he still had it after a shaky outing against mayorga.
I think it definately something alot of people forget about the levels of boxing. Using Merchants words again 'the difference between the levels of the game is the quickness of the fighters'. What hes referring to is not just handspeed and footwork, its also mental quickness to slip and counter and also reflexes. Mosley was countering with his right hand after slipping margaritos jab over and over again. Mosley's physical strength was very impressive aswell, margarito was almost confused as to what was happening to him, even his corner didnt know what to tell him.
