i like doug, i've read his mailbox for years and he writes very good articles. And he was part of the Magazine before GB took over.

The responce to me tells me he was slightly uncomfortable with it. He can't exactly admit that there is a blatant bias, He'd probably get fired.

Doug is right. P4P rankings don't sell a fight. If you're a casual fan, you have no idea who's ranked p4p on a particular list anyway. I have no idea who is ranked P4P in MMA outside of 3 guys. If you're a hardcore fan, you have your own opinion of who the best fighters are. Not only that, but many hardcore fans are so steadfast in their opinion that they believe anyone who disagrees is corrupt.

What an *******. Can't believe he put that much effort into mocking his audience. Boxing nerds are the people who buy his magazine.

I wrote a similar email to Michael Rosenthal a few months ago after Broner was put in at number 5 P4P, ahead of Donaire, Pacquiao, Bradley and Wlad Klitschko. His response was very different to Doug's. He said:

'That was the decision of the new Ratings Chairman Chuck Giampa; the editors had nothing to do with it. Here's Chuck's email address:
    This content is protected
    .'

The magazine has gone to complete **** and the staff know it.

i see your point, but that was just part of my email.

My main underlying theme was based on a genuine concern that the greatest news institution in Boxing is no longer credible, as there will now always be a blatant agenda towards marketing golden boy fighters.

I feel lke a News Organisation needs to be seperate from promotors and governing bodies in order to remain un biased, which i feel is essential.

been p4p rankings to sell a fight especially if a fighter is ranked in the top 2 mainly because no casual understanding the belt situations so its easier to say p4p 1.also :rofl:rofl at dougie calling anyone a nerd look at his breakdown of doanire/rigo here http://ringtv.craveonline.com/blog/178307-dougies-monday-mailbag through the form of comic books
He likened the Cuban lefty to the Black Panther due to his unique fighting style (a comparison you obviously agree with given your nickname suggestion) and he compared Donaire to my favorite Marvel character, Nightcrawler, because he said the Filipino Flash’s jumpy strike-and-move style was akin to Nighty’s teleportation ability.

I liked his comparisons but I disagreed with his fight prediction. I was wrong. His “Black Panther” b__tch slapped my “Nightcrawler’s” sorry blue ass for 12 rounds.

Of course, I thought Donaire would employ a completely different strategy. I never thought he’d be dumb enough to start the fight out stalking forward – flat footed! – against a great counter puncher.

Donaire not moving against Rigondeaux is like Nightcrawler not using his mutant ability in a fight with a badass like the Black Panther.

The Fuzzy Elf’s gotta “BAMF” around to kick some butt.

If Nightcrawler doesn’t teleport he’s not a member of the X-Men, he’s just a pointy eared freak with a tail – and pretty much useless in a fight.

Same deal with Donaire and his lateral movement. If he’s stalking forward – flat footed, no jab, no feints, just looking for one big shot – he goes from being an elite boxer to a predictable fighter. That’s what he was on Saturday.

    :rofl:rofl:rofl

That's just your opinion. Again, many fans feel so strongly about their opinion that it becomes fact to them. Think about this, there are 3 GBP fighters ranked in their P4P top 10. There are 4 Top Rank fighters in their top 10. If they're are so biased towards GBP fighters, than how can this be? Boxrec, which has no affiliation with any promoter, has 3 GBP fighters in the top 10 and 2 TR fighters. Me personally, I've never put too much stock in Ring Magazine. They are just a magazine. They're another entity with an opinion.

    What an unprofessional response.

It's a good example of what's wrong with Boxing 'journalists' today though. Back in the 60's, 70's and 80's, boxing reporters were also diehards of the sport, knew it inside and out. Today they don't put the time and effort into really getting to know the nuances of the sport, and it shows it their articles etc. Guess this guy is no different. I mean, there's really no way you can justify Broner #5 while Rigo ain't even top 10. No way to justify that at all.

Thanks for e-mailing them. It is funny how Dougie got his panites in bunch over your e-mail. Someone got their little feelings hurt. :? **** what he is talking about. Guillermo Rigondeaux should definitely be in the top ten P4P and ahead of Donaire. I will debate Doug, Michael Rosenthal and Chuck Giampa. Who the **** are they anyway? Doug has proven to not know **** anyway. **** them! The Ring's pound for pound rankings have NO credibility.

If the Ring's P4P list isn't a marketing tool then that means they actually think Guerrero is no. 8.

I notice he doesn't mention anything about Broner.
