I personally was rooting for Pac, I enjoy Mayweather and acknowledge he is the best boxing talent of the generation but I often don't like his antics, which caused me to root for Pac. (I often root for the underdog, find it more exciting when they win). Many around me felt that Floyd was running. I did not feel that way. Floyd came forward at times. I personally thought his timing/counter punching and the perfect technique on his straight right hand was enjoyable to watch. However, most people don't even know what a straight right hand is who watched this fight lol. Of course CASUAL fans will complain about this. lets just be happy we got to see TWO P4P top fighters in the world fight each other... How often does that happen? Lets just be greatful this fight was made. I now respect Mayweather, he has walked the walk and now I do not doubt him. Whether or not he is TBE is a different story, but he is without a DOUBT the best boxer of this generation. Before you guys start saying "WHO HAS PAC BEAT LOL" lets remember that Pac fought p4p Tim bradley appoximately 1 yr ago. It's not like he was some shot to **** fighter. Floyd is just a great fighter... Another like him may not come around for a while. If his antics make you mad just focus on his actual boxing skill, unless you are a casual who doesn't appreciate it. I thought it was impressive that he beat a top p4p fighter in the manner he did.
I find it crazy how people are dumb enough to pay these 2 men all this money they will be getting for a fight that is 6 years too late.
Sure it should have happened sooner. But why would you not want to see TWO top 5 P4P fighters in the ring together? How often does that happen. The fight was a logical choice for all those 6 yrs. It just never happened until now.
He was running towards the end of the fight. The first 6 rounds were entertaining. Manny had a nice round 4. There were legit times in that fight were I thought Manny could have won, there were momentum shifts, but Floyd made the fight boring after that and didn't land anything of significance. The deck was stacked against Manny, and basically Floyd just did what he he always does.
I thought it was a good fight too. It's 2 elites going at it. Both could've done more but they were obviously cautious of one another.
Agree with OP. Was definitely interesting from a strategic and technical perspective. Floyd was very focused, very much in control and showed excellent coordination between his footwork, guard and head movement.
Why do you feel this way though? You saw 2 TOP 5 P4P in the ring together. They just didn't look that good because it turned into a technical fight. Boxing isn't a Rocky movie. Its tactics, we got to see the #1 P4P fighter use skills to beat a top 5 P4P. I (PERSONALLY) don't see why this is such a disaster. But I understand that casuals want some more drama to occur in the ring, they want to see guys fighting MAD in the ring. That doesn't happen in boxing. Boxers who fight MAD and with EMOTION never appear on TV often because that style doesn't make it far. I thought the fight was very tactically interesting. Sure I would have liked to see Manny win, but I am a sweet science fan and in terms of pure sweet science it wasn't bad.
