Last night I went to a bday party so I didn't watch the fights live except the Hurd Trout fight (which was awesome). Got home and saw Lubin get wrecked in 1. Watched the first 3 rounds of Lara Gausha. After that I literally fast forwarded to round 10 and then 12. Watched the decision and then went to bed. I watch many many fights and for me to fast forward a title fight means it's boring. Lara is just a stinker I'm surprised he keeps getting the main event
No one watches Erislandy Lara fight anymore. His best days are behind him when he was fighting Williams and Martirosyan. I'm not sure why Haymon even headlines Lara, I only wanted to see Charlo, Lubin ,Trout, and Hurd. Lara was 3rd tier on his own headline show. No boxing channels or publications are talking about him.
I did the opposite. Played the full fight in reverse and made Lara look like a 12 round pressure fighter.
Lara have a great ability to make you look bad in the ring ask Canelo next time don't bet your house against him you will be homeless.
to good for his own good. Props to terrel for taking the fight. Boo boo still in hiding and hurd clearly not ready for lara.
Did Lara fight, never knew that. Both Charles look great and should both be looking to middleweight, once Golovkin gets stuffed by GB one other should look to get Canelo who just clearly ain't no middleweight.
I wish the top guys would have been fighting Lara for these past 5 years or however long he's been dominating for. Would be a tremendous scalp. People like to talk about Canelo fighting him... yet not actually note or realize how impressive it is that Canelo fought him and fought him on level terms, whichever way you scored the fight. No other top name has been willing to exchange leather with him. Credit to Trout (who is a warrior that fools on this forum should have been praising his whole career instead of not knowing him until he signed to fight Cotto and still not giving him his dues at any point after) and Vanes for giving it a go.
I went to sleep on the Lara fight (and I'm a fan of Lara) He really could've got Gausha outta there at any point and just wouldn't step on the gas. I admit, he has to do more if he wants to force the big fights.
i fell asleep during the fight. i was up during the others. but idk if it was getting late but that fight made me sleepy.
That's what he's been doing ever since he signed with Haymon. He's made more money these past few years than he did vs Canelo & Punisher Williams. Before, he got the short end of the purse, and was likely to be screwed vs the judges. Now, he makes more money for a much easier night's work. For a guy who's been screwed by the system, that's not a bad way to get payback. This is why I think it's not quite so simple as Lara being avoided by the big names. While I think the primary reason Al signed Lara was to make sure he was kept away from his more marketable prospects, Lara is also one of the primary beneficiaries of Al overpaying his fighters (which Al does to collect more management fees since that number is based off his fighters' purses). The net result is that Lara might make a call out every now and again, but isn't financially motivated to really press for bigger in-house fights, and Haymon isn't motivated to make them until Lara shows enough signs of slippage that the torch can be passed safely.
