WIth the way boxing is being ran these days full of corruption, greed, money, its becoming increasingly frustrating as a fan of the sport. While its still my favourite sport, I have started to watch more and more MMA and in many ways I am jealous of how well the UFC is ran in comparison to boxing.

The big fights just aren't happening and when they do, its not happening at the right time. Too much politics, ducking, record padding and other bull****. In the last few years the fans have missed out Kovalev - Stevenson, Khan - Brook to name a few and I fear the same will happen with Spence - Crawford. Everyone out there just chasing a quick payday against Canelo, Mayweather, Joshua types and god forbid anyone should lose a fight. GGG couldn't get a decent opponent to fight him while Sergio Martinez was active. In the heavyweight division now everyone is just lining up for Joshua. The lack of top 10s fighting each other is shocking.

I would love to see the belts go back to just one world title per weight class. I think purse splits need to be sorted out, make all fights 50/50, maybe give world champions 60/40 split, or base it off rankings, higher ranking gets 60/40. Unfortunately I dont think this will happen and in ten years time I really fear for future of boxing and what its going to become. What do you guys think?

It's going to struggle badly during the plandemic.. once flu seasons back the whole thing will ramp up again & boxing will continue to be in the shitter .. promoters are playing politics OUTSIDE of boxing now too.. Arum fkin hates Trump.. cos Trump was one of the few men to get one over on Arum!

Not really. The sport itself is doing really well globally. The USA market and talent has taken a massive hit tho.
And the world titles are a joke.
But overall, boxers are doing well and there is plenty to be excited over.

For anyone who finds his way to a site like this, what is going on in the world of boxing is deeply disturbing. Too many world champs, the best not meeting the best, corruption, etc... very frustrating, to say the least!

But the thing is... 99% of boxing fans don't follow boxing like we do! Do fans in Japan worry about when (if ever) Spence - Crawford will be made? No, of course not - they are all eagerly awaiting the next Inoue fight. That (and a few other smaller-weight titlists) is what interests them. And it's like that all over the world - fans are mainly rooting for their own boxers.

So with more and more boxers, from more and more countries, taking part in more and more fights - I see no reason to believe, boxing is dying.

Someone else on another board said...

F all sports but boxing. F boxing because boxers only fight once every two years and they all avoid each other until they're 40 and ready to cash out.

Crawford is to blame. Hiding under Bob Arum's desk.

Brook can't hide for most of his career then finally step up and win over Porter and act like he is the man desperate to scalp reputation off Khan who is at the end of his career. I don't care that Khan Brook didn't happen, I fully understand why Khan didn't fight that pleb

Wilder took forever to step up because him and his management know he is fatally flawed

AJ is being carefully routed but he's took enough challenges & British casuals were desperate for someone like him so his position makes sense.

Fury is a real G. Just needs to get some defenses and not let Bob Arum squander him which I don't think will happen.

Mikey Garcia let his talent go into the bin

Billy Joe Saunders let his talent go into the bin

ultimately it's about money for the boxers just as much as it is the promoters. We can't complain as fans. We don't get our heads punched in for a living.

If you don't like it don't pay for it. The last time I payed for a fight was Khan Judah in 2011 and the stream didn't even work. lol.

What you should be worried about is social media boxers and the sport becoming a farce with sideshow fights. That's what i'm concerned about...

Once the traditional pathway to the top of the sport gets undermined and eroded then we have a real problem.

We're still in a better position than UFC/MMA. I'm pretty sure Dana White masturbates to the thought of Fury having a farce debut fight in MMA. This is show business folks.

    It's dead.

Hearns and Leonard (1 and 2 at their weight or any weight) had no problem fighting eachother for 10% of the money that Dillian Whyte and Derek Chisora make fighting eachother!

    Let that sink in.

It may become a niche sport like kickboxing for a few years or decades, but there's still life in it. Boxing will live on because it's simply the best combat sport for the ultra-casual to tune into once a year. UFC has captured a lot of the market but their sport constantly pays reverence to boxing, and their most popular fighters are generally "strikers".

Boxing is in a decent position to survive this and future pandemics. Still, the sport is headed into strange and unprecedented times. The short term outlook is definitely bad.

I fear for the long term health of sport as many supposedly hardcore fans don't realise what we have. Too many are busy being fighter or promoter fans rather than fans of the sport. We should, as fans, but trying to get behind the sport, talk about the sport, and talk about what happens around the globe. We are, instead, too focused on a handful of fighters, and the same relentlessly dull conversations.

Jesus Christ children. Boxing's been the same for 150 years. Figure out how to deal with it or go watch UFC because it's obviously not going to change

I wouldn’t say the same for 150 years because not too long ago great fighters were fighting each other in their primes, there is wayyyy more cherry picking now
