Rigo was humiliated by Lomachenko and became a certified joke after he quit on his stool after years of talking trash on social media.

Rigo has had a really, really, really bad December. The fact that he hasn't gone anywhere near his Twitter account since Saturday means this dude is deep in the dumps.

Dang! Loma stripped him of his soul and now the WBA are stripping him of belt too.

So I guess the lesson here is — don't do stupid or desperate things if you care about your future.

But, to be frank, it seems Rigondeaux didn't think of such possible WBA moves when accepting the fight.

    He brought it to himself.
Floyd Mayweather broke his hand landing a hook on Hernandez head and keep fighting. So was Haye damaged his knee and took the ko.
Fighters fight through injury all the time. He could still use his right hook to punch but decided to pack it in early.
It's unfortunate with the WBA situation. The boxing world wants to see Loma Rigo.
Similar to unification fights, there should be an exception.
    WBA is just crook.

I don't think he got the adrenaline rush that would keep him fighting. Before the fight Rigo didn't look like a quitter. When you troll on social networks , at least take your punishment

I feel bad for him too. Had to move up two divisions and took on a primed out elite phenom at age 37 (who does that?) and for what.... an insulting 400k... I was hoping he could **** on the establishment by pulling the extreme upset, but...

Not only did he get dominated (though not as bad as I thought he was going to).... in the fight he will unfortunately be remembered for, he cast a shadow over his name and legacy by quitting like that. I was bugged seeing him quit... not because he quit, but because he just screwed himself and tarnished a night that could have seen him lifted up and praised for taking on such insurmountable odds and putting forth a valiant effort in losing.

This is why I wish guys wouldn't get so carried away with fighters so soon. Even on the nights he was sent tumbling to the deck, Rigo had never been in a professional fight where he was out of control for more than 30-60 seconds. The very first time he was put in the position of having to chase a fight, he folded like a tacky deck chair. The fortitudinal aspects of this game are very real, they have to be as rock solid as the skillset if you're really an elite fighter. Until those aspects have been tested significantly, guys shouldn't be anointed. Loma got a decent gut check in early, being harassed and roughed up all night by Salido, but hanging in there to come on strong later in the fight after the veteran tired, so he's at least proven something in that regard.

Aside from that, was Rigo ever really all that amazing? He was very good, I thought. Athletically gifted and acutely nuanced within his dimension. But some observers were describing this guy as the most skilled boxer who ever lived, and that was a case of horrible aggrandizement. I never saw anything close to that in him. The guy was just never rounded enough to justify that kind of distinction.

Premature anointment, heapings of advance accolades, these are why Rigo is in the absurd position of having been a Picasso last week and a Palooka this week.

Rigo did no break his hand, nor was it injured at all! Plus, Lomachenko fought and easily out boxed Gary Russell, won every round at 126, then he moved up to 130 and knocked Rocky Martinez out! Lomachenko had not been at 130 that long when he fought Rigo.................he won the fight by skills that have never been seen in a boxer ever before!!!!!!! Rigo fans had been claiming that Rigo would knock Lomachenko out, easily beat him, it was all over the boards and esp. on YouTube! Never seen so much hate! It was not the size, it was the skills and style that beat Rigo.................WBA should not strip Rigo though, don't know why they did.............

just to put your remarks in perspective:

what Rigo did in the Lomachenko fight, was a first for him--not a habit

Rigo did what Marriaga, Sosa, and Walters also did in their fight with Loma
    -----
i wonder how different the outcome what have been if the fight had been at 126. Given how dominant was Loma, perhaps none at all, but i now i wish we had seen this fight at 126.

Had it taken place earlier, when Loma called out Rigo, i assume the fight would have been made at 126), but in this instance, Rigo called out Loma and Loma is clearly looking to go up in weight (he said in the post-fight that wants Mikey Garcia next) rather than back down from 130, so it's easy to see why he didn't want to fight at 126 if he didn't have to. And remember, Loma spent his last two years in amateurs at 130--his 2012 olympic gold and his 2011 gold in the world championships were both at 130

He could learn a lesson from Haye vs Bellew, where Haye fought on one leg and didn't give up, kept going for it to the end

His stock plummeted after quitting like that. It was disgraceful.

Yes. Rigo is/was the goods. Even if you're fighting bums, it's impossible to come off as a master boxer. The way that he dismantled Donaire was a masterful display of boxing wizardry --- footwork, counterpunching, power, speed, positioning, punch selection, etc..
