You said "It was not a smart move for his career, so yes that makes it unproffesional."

No, failing to make weight was unprofessional period.

I agreed with you a long time ago about Rios and his team being unprofessional about not making the contracted weight agreement. I simply don't think that is enough of a reason to discount a fighter or hate or think of them as a bum.

He only stayed at 135 this time to get the big money big name fight with Gamboa (who called Rios out, not the other way around.) When Yuriorkis dropped out, Rios had already started camp and spent the money on training. Look at it as him having to recoup expenses  plus that 50G bonus is still in play, of course he's gonna follow through with whoever the replacement is. I'm 100% confident he will move up to at least 140 after this.

There's no need for a "broader historical point of view". One mother****er weighed in at the LW limit and one did not. How about I call it what it is... A LW fighting a Jr. WW. :deal

I think he will take it the distance, but I don't think he will win. You never know though Rios looked almost on the verge of death at the weigh-ins. He may have pressed his luck one to many times here. Abril is a slick, sturdy chinned Cuban fighter and anything is possible.

I still have complete confidence in by boy Brandon though.

Brandon Rios is an incredibly talented boxer who will, nevertheless, be beat like a Dick. Brandon will be beat like a Dick - depend on it. Think about this. Brandon has incredible talent and skill....but he will be beat like a Dick. Think about it.

I admit that I went a little too far in calling him a "bum". I'm just not much impressed with the guy's boxing skills and find him really ****ing annoying. On top of that he's already pulled this bull**** once before, after which he tried to blame the calibration of the scale and said he was done at 135 only to sign on for yet another fight at a weight he couldn't make.

Don't really make a difference what label it gets given honey, it is what it is.

I don't think any active lw could beat him nor has beaten any better lw's than him.

If it makes you feel better we'll stick to 137, noone below 137 or above 133 is beating him or beating better guys.

Label it how you want but that's what i'm talking bout sugar.

I am begining to think you really are Hopkins. He uses the same illogical arguments to try to explain why he has lost. If it makes you happy to think that you have corrected me, by all means go with that thought. :rofl

I don't think I corrected you. I did correct you. Not making weight wasn't unprofessional because it was a bad career move. It was unprofessional because he reneged on his agreement to come in at or under 135. By all means, though, keep blaming Robert Garcia and acting like Rios is some sort of victim in this situation. :yep

He's the best fighter between 137 and 133 in the world.
