He is beyond shot and ruined and I ****ing HATE to say this even though I'm a bigger Marquez fan. Why the hell did his stupid blood sucking team advise to make this?, with all the other less risky guys he could have fought for good money to keep his career rolling they pick this?. I'm glad he's leaving the ring safe and hope this doesn't affect him in any way, it was TERRIBLE to watch this, possibly the first time I will ever say I wish I didn't watch a boxing match. Roach advised him to stop with such fights immediately after the rematch, yet they let him go all the way to this. All the time he took off you would think his eyes would heal but obviously and CLEARLY didn't even before the bell rang, that was enough proof already the man is done with such fights. Damn this fight pisses me off.
Exactly and I think both of us will agree when I say Vasquez is NOT one to drop this early and break down with such cuts if it wasn't for him being BEYOND done. That's what makes this terrible to see.
I feel sad. And I feel bad that this fight happened... didn't need to. Vasquez looked like a ghost - he looked sick. No 5th fight please... I was disappointing that nobody made a mark on how Vasquez just looked so worn out. Bernstein didn't say anything but looked like he wanted to cry at the end. I feel dirty as a boxing fan... just bad.
Because there are not many great trainers and advisors in the sport left, Freddy Roach tried to make him retire and he left Freddy when he wouldn't hear of it.
Nah I think there should have been a fourth fight. Niether guy got paid **** for the first three. They made some decent money for this one. Now they can go retire or fight old feather fisted fighters or something. I'm also happy the way it ended. Niether guy took too much punishment and they both got paid. Plus there was a FOTY candidate on the undercard so no one can say they weren't happy with what they got. Honestly, guys I pretty much hoping for an early stoppage where neither guy got too beat up. SO I'm decently happy about how this one ended up. I have too much respect for Vazquez as a warrior to feel sorry for him. He one of the greatest champions I have ever seen. I hope he retires now and I hope he`s made enough money to live life after boxing. If I see him getting beat up by anyone other then RM I'll join the I feel bad badwagon.
By any chance to those who have witnessed the fight, did Marquez look shot too? Either way I hope they both retire after tonight.
He looked alright, but he had a cut, bloddied and battered Vazquez in front of him, the same Vazquez that lets you tea off on him. He may look spectacular against that, but when he's up against slick, fast, mobile fighters himself we'll tell if he's lost a step or two, which I think he has aswell.
Yeah I just would hate to see either of these warriors get beaten up by young up-and-comers. For the sake of their healths, I want them to retire and I prefer Vasquez fighting Marquez a 4th time other than fighting a much younger, hungry fighter.
Vasquez is a true warrior. In my opinion he is the final victor in this great seris of fights. Some of the best rounds in the history of boxing. His eyes are shot, and he needs to retire. I thank you for always being a classy brave warrior of the sport of boxing.
A bit of an anti-climatic ending to a great series. The three rounds they fought were pretty good but it felt a bit empty. Vazquez doesn't look too good anymore, with all those wars and the way he bleeds from every punch I'd like to see him hang them up. He's had a good career and has been a warrior but he looks like he's near the end. Marquez looked sharp in there and hasn't worn as bad as Vazquez even with being the older fighter. Vazquez not being the same may have helped Marquez look better than what he still is but, still, Marquez looked good. I have no desire to see Marquez brutalize Darchinyian but I couldn't blame Marquez for taking the fight. I think Lopez-Marquez is now an appealing fight. Lopez against Gambo or Callebero are the real fights we want but I wouldn't complain about a Lopez-Marquez fight at all.
Don't be fooled. Marquez is faded too but Vasquez is just much more faded. Marquez is top-tall and has lost a lot of his mobility. He should consider retirement soon too.
I wish they'd both retire, but I'll settle for IV alone hanging them up. The verdict was in before the fight started: The guy who lost the previous two was a 2:1 favorite. Everyone knew the deal.
