"Overrated" is inherently vague. For instance, who exactly overrates him? There are probably as many who overrate as underrate him. I see Kessler as the best of the bunch in his weight division, but not as some supernatural talent.
Who would you say has done enough to be considered no.1 then?? The only person I consider to have a case other than Kessler is Froch.
I expected him to do better against Calzaghe though he did get Joe's attention a few times . Kessler let Joe dictate the pace of the fight much of the time which is Joe's forte , Joe is a master of changing the tempo at which he boxes so if you wait on him it is to his advantage. Kessler is arguably the best 168 'er out there . Froch will give him a good fight and who knows could land a lucky haymaker but really Kessler should beat him convincingly and quite possibly stop him in the latter rounds . Kessler does have bad back so that might make him fight somewhat rigidly .
I don't think people overrate him at all. 4-5 good fights lower than JC, 2-3 good fights above JT. On the subject of changing his game plan and beating JC - are you forgeting that Joe was great at figuring a fighter out and a master of changing his game plan mid fight?
Yeah, it's funny how people say Kessler's resume is **** since he clearly has the best resume of all the top 168 pounders ('cept Taylor, but his resume is at 160 so it's not really comparable).
