Donaire is the real deal, but I agree it might be too much to go directly up to feather to take on Gamboa. Realistically I'd like him to fight the winner of Mares v Agbeko, then step up to 122 and take on Rigondeaux and WV2. If he passes all those tests then step up to featherweight. Although as someone pointed out, by that time Gamboa may be up at 130 or 135.

On the contrary he is underrated. After the recent hype he generated because of his wins die down, he will again be underrated.

Exactly. For example, I don't enjoy watching the junior welterweights these days. Bradley, Khan, Alexander and Maidana have all been hyped and all have so much flaws. Bradley doesn't know how to put weight into his shot, Khan throws flurries after flurries hoping that one of those shot will land. Maidana and Alexander are lacking in some fundamentals boxing skills.

Donaire knows how to box. He can set up shots, he moves well, he punches hard, etc. If these other guys are/were hyped, Donaire deserved to be hyped way more.

i've seen nonito take a punch from the strongest punchers and the ******* took it and kept on! With that kind of chin and talent, i'm pretty sure he'd be staying in the limelight a few more years.

He's not overrated. He has beaten good opposition. He has the skill, speed, power, movement ... total package.

He is actually one of the few fighters I get anxious to see when he inks a fight. I really hate his situation now. If he were in a higher weight class he'd get more press. I can't believe Ring has him behind Martinez p4p.

Donaire is the real deal. Let's hope his problems with Arum clear up quick. This kid is going to take over.

The real kick in the ass is Arum had him all set to start making the big bucks too. People get pissed at Arum because he takes his time, but...... Look at where Donaire is compared to Vic D right now. How many posts were there about how Vic fared so much better than Nonito after Nonito beat Vic? Arum would have given him the big $ fights at the end of his contract to keep him happy/signed. It happened with Cotto getting a fight with Pac. You could see Nonito was well positioned for the rise. Too bad they disagreed on when the contract ended and got things so fscked up. I really hope they get Nonito back in the ring. The sport needs him.

I see him (and Andre Ward) as the 2 top fighters in the world p4p in the next few years.

Look at the IBO rankings and you will see why he has the rating he has. 12-0 with top 50 fighters.

Why do people assume that the upper divisions are naturally bigger fighters and that they are always so much better?

With Donaire's size, he can easily compete with anyone up to Superfeather-weight division. He could step into the ring with Gamboa tomorrow and be the bigger man no problem.

He's really damn good, I just hope all this promo fighting doesn't keep him from reaching his full potential, he needs to get back in the ring asap, but this bull**** between TR and GBP probably just set him back and that's too bad, hit while the fire is hot, if he doesn't get back in the ring this summer people forget quickly, they should be building on his momentum asap.

Donaire beat darchinyan at 112 who after avoiding a rematch went on to unify 3 belts at 115 and montiel won 18 title fights in 3 divisions and has never been stopped.

If Nonito was Cuban the TS's question would have been, "Why isn't he considered #1 P4P."

I hate the hype surrounding him, too.

But I have to admit, he's pretty ****ing good.
