I'm picking him to win this fight, but he's really going to have to step up to beat Shane Mosley. You have Mosley who's still fast, still quick, still powerfull and with a ton of experience. He has a solid chin, only been down once in his career and all of his 5 L's have come against Top Notch boxers ... all of them being a bit more skilled than Berto is right at this moment. Mosley has the size advantage and reach ... On paper, this is Mosley's fight to lose -- Thoughts? Will it go the distance?
I just read in an interview a few ring magazines ago that Berto said in a way hes lucky he wasnt fighting mosley when he fought collazo, and that he will have to be 100% to fight mosley. I think hes going to step up his game and really shine this fight, although i am rooting for shane and hope he pulls it out, i think this fight will be tougher then expected as i see most expect shane to win.
I'm going with Andre Berto in an upset. There are question marks for both fighters. Will Berto's chin hold up against Mosley? How will Berto's speed affect Mosley? Will Berto start getting better and hit his full potential in this fight (Berto has not looked all that good in his last couple of fights, especially against Collazo.)? Will ring rust be a problem for Mosley? I'm not all that confident with picking Berto, but I wouldn't be all that confident with Mosley either. This is a pick 'em fight in my eyes and I think it will go down to the wire.
I don't think Berto is ready for Shane. Shane still has a good beard and Berto doesn't sit on his punches enough for my liking. I think Shane is going to force the issue, frustrate him and run away with it at the end. Especially if Shane saw what Collazo's body punches did to Berto early on in their fight.
Berto has had a very good run at being a low level celebrity. An undeserved one. No more attending parties and hanging out with music and TV stars. It's time for Berto to get put on the bench where he belongs. His seat is the one with the fecal matter in it.
I hope that Berto wins, it's time for new blood. I don't see how he can do it? He would have to box and limit his mistakes ... Shane wants a big fight and he truly is the top 3 best welterweight(s) in the world. Berto would really have to be damn near flawless. All the guys that beat Shane were very aware of what he could do and limited their mistakes ... Cotto was almost knocked out in 7th ...
Damn San ... That was very harsh but I believe what you are saying ... but with history always repeating itself ... I can see it going to the cards with Berto getting the edge ... and Shane having done enough to keep his name in the spotlight. (ala vs Cotto)
I feel bad for Berto too because Mosley is gonna treat him like his ***** for talkin all that **** via Twitter. Berto will be fighting in Haiti after Mosley gets done with him.
I think berto could end up the next James Toney. Eating too much between fights and having to move up in weight because of it.
When did people start thinking this big lipped ***** Berto was good? Was it after he barley sneaked by Collazo? Or was it the terrible performace againest Urango (a 140pounder moving up) ?
He was almost knocked out ... thats why he started back pedaling ... and I remember Shane's dad telling Shane to get on him because he was hurt. (Shane didn't listen)
This is one of those fights that is so exciting you can't pick a winner. I hope Berto doesn't try to bang with SSM. He will get hurt.
