I finally watch Rios vs Abril in which i watch it on youtube. And let me say.....

I watched the replay on HBO last night...Some people on here will be shocked by this but I gave rounds 2,3,5,9,10 and 12 to Rios with the rest going to Abril...114-114. 7 and 8 were extremely close and could have gone either way. It seems like people are ignoring BamBam's work on the inside. Yes, a fair percentage of his punches throughout the fight hit gloves but Abril was just too inactive to win the rounds I gave to Rios. I'm as objective as they come and I really don't think this decision was a robbery at all. With this said, if this were an amateur fight, Abril would have won handily.

 

I thought about Jimmy Young when I was scoring this fight. I'm no Riostard and I'm extremely objective when it comes to things like this. Abril simply wasn't active enough in rounds 2,3,5,9,10 or 12 to win this fight outright. Add in the fact that 7 and 8(rounds I scored for Abril) could have gone either way and I really don't see a robbery at all. It wasn't pretty but Rios was very active on the inside(in the clinch) all night.

Was it a great defensive performance by Abril?. Absolutely. Did he do much better than most expected him to? 100%. Did he do enough to win this fight outright? No.

No, I'm really not. I just want some attention paid to the scoring again and noone was responding. I could care less about Rios or Abril but people use the term "robbery" far too loosely nowadays.

I'm not afraid to stand alone on principle. Abril was cool, calm and collected in the pocket and was masterful on defense but he simply wasn't active enough, in the rounds I've already mentioned, to win the fight outright. Give me your RBR scoring and we can discuss it. In fact that goes out to anyone who thinks I'm trolling...give me yourOBJECTIVE RBR scoring and we can debate it...rationally. I'm not trolling guys...

Save it. According to them Brandon didn't land ANY punches on the the inside and work rate doesn't matter. I too watched the fight after the fact and could have easily joined the crowd to look "knowledgeable". I didn't do round by round scoring but simply said I could see why the judges were giving Rios rounds. Of course I took nothing but abuse for that. Hook and hold is brilliant boxing I guess.
