I finally watch Rios vs Abril in which i watch it on youtube. And let me say.....

It was a completely dominant performance by Abril. If the plan is to pit Rios in with JMM look for a major ass whooping to take place.

 

Of course you don't wanna see him, he beat your BF.

If you saw such an obvious robbery of a fight that way ... well ... you are a crap boxing analyst ( hope you never get a job as such ) . Peace .

 

I've stated my case. I've watched the fight 3 times and I've provided the rounds that I gave to each and why. How about you?

Either way Rios got schooled, he had no answer for Abrils shoulder roll, it completely neutralized everything he had, they could fight a hundred times anywhere from 135-160 and Abril wins 100 times.

Abril was a pleasure to watch if you appreciate ring smarts from someone who doesn't have the athletic gifts of an elite fighter trumping the natural gifts of a much higher regarded fighter. It was like a bull vs matador aside from the fact that Abril also bullied Rios around the ring and made him look weak.

 

I have watched his past fights several times and I have rewatched his bout with Abril discecting it and using stop frame and slo mo. When I watched it live I scored the fight 9 rounds to 3 for Abril. Not because I thought Abril did that well but because Rios did not do what I knew he could and he did not fight well. After rewatching the fight, I have found that the fight was very close in effective punches landed. Like the first round. Most of Abril's jabs landed on Rios' gloves. In total, both fighters only landed 8 clean punches each. One of Rios' left hooks set Abril back on his heels and clearly stunned him. So do we give Rios that round because of that one truely effective punch? I would not argue against someone who did. More than half of the rounds were just that close. That and the fact that the ref let us all down by not stopping Abril from holding. 83 clinches over 12 rounds and only one weak warning from the ref. What would the fight been like had the ref done his job and took a point away from Abril for holding? Not to mention the dozen or more elbows Abril landed. I find Abril's survival holding style boring. Much like Bernard Hopkins to me. Bernard is a defensive genius but his style often times is boring. Bernard only fights aggressive against people he knows can't hurt him. Abril apparantly does the same thing. Many of his past fights show Abril punching wild and wide. That is the Abril Rios expected. Not the safe conservative fighter Abril became. Abril told Rios he was going to break his jaw. Rios was ready for a war that never happened. Abril did not do enough in two judges eyes to win. They apparantly gave Rios some of those closer rounds.

 

Man you need to get a new gig. This one is getting old.

If you need a SM frame by frame kind of $h1t to find that Rios won, then you are more biased than I what though, they ask 77 writers for who they score the fight and 73 of them gave the fight to Abril, ranging from 10-2, 9-3, 9-2-1, 12-0, now the other 4 that gave the fight to Rios were all Mexicans, and here almost 99% of the posters think that it was a robbery, only you, jr middleweight, gaul and freddy are crying, and they gave him the "w" Rios, I think if the judges got it right you guys would not being so disappoint it, Rios=Abril's B1TCH, ask Rios if he knows Abril now...

 

Try reading a post before you comment on it. I never said I thought Rios won. I did say it was not a lopsided fight. Many rounds if judged correctly were really close. Neither fighter impress me in the fight. I was just less impressed with Abril's style. I gave the fight to Abril the night of the fight because I felt Rios let his fans and himself down. I was biased toward Rios because of his lack of effort. I was not impressed with Abril. After watching the fight several times. I am still not impressed with Rios' effort but I am even less impressed with Abril's affectiveness. It was a close fight and I can see the close rounds going either way. Rios did not fight like he usually does for one reason or the other. I had at first thought it was all because of Abril's style but I now think it was due to lack of motivation on Rios' part. For that fact alone Rios deserved to lose but if you are counting clean punches and aggressiveness, it was a close fight.

 

I seen him fight and i wish he stayed in the amateurs.

I agree that it was a great defensive performance by Abril and I also believe that Rios initiated many of the clinches. I just don't believe that you win rounds by spoiling. Abril would often just stand there with his shoulder roll fortress up while Rios was going to work. Yes, many of Rios' punches hit gloves and shoulders but many of them did land. My point is that I can definitely see how a judge would give some of the closer rounds to Rios because of Abril's inactivity...especially considering that a title was on the line.

 

ray was spouting some pretty hateful ****, to not even see the fight and have that much hate I question this person's thought process, I was hateful as **** but I saw it that same night, agreed with the robbery, but hated the style employed by abril even though it was very effective.
