It's boxing, you get hurt. To simply quit when you have an insurmountable lead on the scorecards against a guy who punches like a toddler is inexcusable. He could of just ran for the rest of the fight and won.

That's not Vitali's style, to run for the rest of the fight. I don't consider respectfully quitting when injured with a rotator cuff to the extent that requires surgery is not dishonorable in any way shape or form.

Actually in retrospect in was exactly the right & logical thing to do since he went on to win the WBC Heavyweight Championship of the World. Why risk your career over a single fight?

I'm sure some of the keyboard warriors here are waaaaaay too tough to quit for such a serious injury, they'd all go out on their shields of course. :yep :-(

Let's get one thing straiht. I'm not huggin Vitaly but he WAS beating Lewis. Anyone who "saw" the fight knows this. If Lewis was undertrained then he should have stayed home. Don't come to fight then say I was "undertrained". If you're a Lewis fan I don't mean disrespect.

...and don't come to a fight and lose, and then say I "was winning."

OK, you're anti VK, that's fine. I'm neutral but VK didn't choose to quit. You follow? Golota beat the **** out of Bowe like nobody's business, and yes, in the books he has two "L's"for it.

Too often debates, digress into this pattern...

What does my opinion of VITKLIT have to do with it...??? Nothing.

You say don't go to a fight, have a tough time than say you were out of shape.

I answered... Don't lose a fight, and say that you were winning.

I don't know what fandom for one fighter or another has to do with these simple issues.

Personally I can observe that Lewis was obviously not in his best condition...but he pulled it off, so he can reveal any and all reasons it wasn't as easy as he would have liked. That's called being candid.

Lewis was out of shape...and we know what Rahman did to an equally out of shape Lewis. VITKLIT just couldn't do what Hasim did...it's OK though, his little bro has already outperformed him.

He quit on his stool in a fight where he had an insurmountable lead. It's not like he was in there with Foreman either, it was Chris Byrd.

To simply ignore that a fighter quit on his stool in a fight because he was winning and it required surgery is laughable. I can't see any of the ATGs that people pick Wlad over like Frazier doing this.

The difference is Lennoxx actually recovered and was on the verge of finishing him off when the fight was stopped.
