Yes, you're right, Golota beat Bowe's ass but the media squirreled it. Bowe knew Golota had his number and quit. Golota should have been champ.
He was on medical suspension in the U.S. at that time...so the boxing commision did feel he was injured.
Very different circumstances. Brewster should never of been licensed to fight and all of the wars he had been in took their toll. He wasn't in his prime like Vitali was
I think he is underrated. He is big, skilled, fast for his size , has an iron chin, punching power and good stamina. World amateur champion (army), kickbox champion, he was leading on both score cards when losing. 1 is injury and the other is from cuts. Cut is related to luck, some guys get hit very much ,they dont get cut, some get cut. And if you watched his fights he usually totally dominates his opponents and you can feel that he is there for KO, I agree that his opponents are not good enough but he showed he has good chance even against a better opposition. And %98 KO ratio is incredible, whether they are bum or not. We see lots of champions today who have difficulty with KOing bums.
Well, he's got the highest KO% among champions in history, was never down from a punch, and has the best round wons to round lost ratio in history. You're right. That's not to impressive....NOT.
Well the only guys he fought that were anything approaching world class is Lewis, Byrd, and Sanders. Lewis ripped Vitalis face open and before you go saying he was winning it big, the fight was very close on the scorecards and getting closer because Lewis nearly had Vitali out in the 6th. Byrd is tailormade for Vitali, Byrd is effective against plodding punchers he can make look silly. Against tall boxer punchers he usually gets beat up. You say never down from a punch, Sanders had him very wobbled as well and he WAS down. The ref missed it. He had the highest KO % in history for champions. That's because Vitali had the weakest competition in history for champions, the only guy he beat that was ANY good was 38 year old Sanders. Johnson was a whale, same with Danny Boy. And the only guys he fought that could hit and were ok were Sanders and Lewis, one of whom stopped him on cuts when he was badly hurt and the other staggered him and deserved to get a KD against him. A fat over weight Lewis in his last fight was on the verge of finishing Vitali, let's not try to make Vitali out to be invincible.
Rahman did nothing, other than land the lucky bomb. VK was having his way with Lewis. I saw the fight.
HE WAS NOT HAVING HIS WAY WITH HIM! THE FIGHT WAS NEARLY EVEN ON THE SCORECARDS AND LEWIS WAS HEATING UP AND NEARLY HAD VITALI OUT IN THE 6TH ROUND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so tired of being acting like Vitali won every round and was battering him. The fight was nearly even and Vitali lost the round right before it was stopped.
Vitali "had his way" in the second round only. Every other round was close. Lennox swept the final round on all 3 cards. Can we pick one of these Vitali threads and 'sticky' it at the top of the forum, and delete the rest? I'm getting tired of repeating myself. :-((
Vitali has knocked out people BETTER than Sam Peter. You have to be JOKING if you think Vitali can't do it. You DO know all of his wins except one were by knockout, right? You do know that Sam Peter was stunned by James Toney a couple of times, hurt by Oleg Maskaev, and Jameel McCline. Nah you don't know that obviously. You will the day after the fight though, please come back on that day.
Lewis was undertrained, and he still won. I don't care about Lewis being disrespected, I don't really like him that much anyway. But he wasn't in good shape, and Klitschko even said so after he lost to Lewis. It's Lewis's fault for not training like he should have, he should have learned from the Rahman fight, but he didn't, but at least this time he still got the job done in the ring. Klitschko was winning 4-2 on the cards. Not a large margin at all, and it doesn't really matter anyway. He lost fairly. It wasn't a headbutt cut that got incorrectly called a punch. Kirk Johnson established his standing as a "heir apparent" when a year before losing to Vitali, he almost got KO'd in the 9th round against Ruiz and got himself DQ'd. He was also in shape when he lost to Ruiz, unlike the Vitali fight. But at least this time, Vitali won against the undertrained fighter.
