I for one am SOOOO excited that Haymon and PBR are failing miserably!

"Now before we get started let me say that I don't have a prejudiced bone in my body, I once bought a Michael Jackson cassette 30 years ago, it's just that, well, a certain "demographic" of America (which I won't name) well, it just bothers me when they make a lot of money.

Anyway, I'm waiting ON THE EDGE OF MY SEAT now to pay $59 for Paquiao - Marquez V and VI, and ODLH finding a plucky jr. welterweight to pull up to 155 to fight Canelo.

Oh, and GGG challenging ANYBODY from 154-168 (who doesn't have legs.)

Yep, things will be right back to the way they are, and that's the way I like them."

I've posted about the shortfallings of PBC, but I'd rather see it succeed.

People don't realize how ugly things are going to get if/when it goes under...regardless of how you feel about Haymon (and honestly, all boxing power brokers are shady and self-serving), things are going to be terrible for alot of fighters once the cash runs out at PBC.

Shrinking budgets and airtime is a reality that's hit boxing hard over the last 10-15 years, and it's not over yet. The worst thing that can happen is to have over 100 fighters stuck in limbo in a market where the supply of good fighters far outstrips the financial demand to see them.

We're going to see ALOT more fringe PPV matchups of fights that would've been regular HBO or Showtime fights in the past because they're going to lean more and more heavily on fans to subsidize the fighters' purses so they don't have to. Break-even will be the new "profit" because as long as they aren't losing money on PPV, the mission of getting fights made without networks spending more is accomplished.

I don't see why anyone would want it to fail if they like boxing, I mean what good does it do for the sport if it does? It's just going to end in tears.

But it probably will. It doesn't look sustainable to me.

While you're waiting, you can pay $70 to watch Pacquaio-Bradley III.

    :happy

For the life of me, I always wondered why HBO excitedly announces its next PPV ... like they want fans to go ...

"AWESOME. Another $70 tacked onto my cable bill this month. Fantastic!"

It seems even more ridiculous now ... since we can turn on NBC and watch title fights.

i think people root avian st pbc because they feed us far too many mismatches. They overpay for these mismatches which gives fighters less incentive to test themselves against the best.

I know EXACTLY what you mean, Bro. As an "American" I just think we need to have the sport back in the hands of MY people, like Loeffler and Arum and Kovalev and Golovkin...If you know what I mean.

I think some of it goes into the way things are set up. If we did not have so many iterations of "world champion" and a bigger push to unify titles or have one title there would be more interest. Fans are sick of the politics and potential fans are turned off by these shady practices.

I get your point but most GGG fans and Kovalev fans on here are of eastern European descent. We are not the same "white people " as the shook white guys you grew up with. We are not afraid of blacks, which would force us to hate you. Nor do we feel resentment when blacks succeed. We just don't exhibit cuckold tendencies and call things how they are. AL Haymon prevented top notch fights from happening, and foe that we wish him to lose. He fixes matches, feeds his Champs a steady diet of opponents that don't even box full time, and he stagnates the sport. He is don king/ Bob arum of today, and no one in their right mind wishes those 2 well.

I would say, numerically speaking, that that is probably not true, I would guess there are tons of good ol' Western Euro-Murrikans, and a fair number of Asians in that demographic, but I'd be interested in a poll

Boxing on free tv is always good so in that regard I'd hate to see it fail. However hbo has the top fighters so there is a lack of interest on many PBC cards. Everyone knows the top heavyweights are Wlad and Fury, light heavy Kovalev, super middle Ward, middle GGG, and so forth. Never mind Canelo who is a major draw. Its a tough sell for PBC because ppl either want the best. They'll jump on board early if the fighter has a stellar amateur(Olympic)background but other than that PBC isn't going to draw unless they put on steller match up week after week and they can't do that because they will cannibalise half their roster quickly.
I only see PBC failing. It's a shame it was an honorable idea that was executed poorly.
