I found this Floyd interview fascinating..

  1. He's not acting like an ass. Quite humble and showing a few of his tricks. I think he's an OK guy off camera. If he wasn't so obsessed with money I would probably be a proper fan.

I've seen that before,he shows some good moves there.

  3. Interesting too that he considers his mind his biggest asset (more than his speed etc),

I like the In This Corner video's but the fact Smithy throws punches at the other guy's hands makes them totally irrelevant. I mean there's no way Mayweather could block the jab and slip that right hand by turning to his side if Smithy actually throws it to his head because his shoulder or body position isn't blocking it.

  5. haha. Fair enough. I've never boxed in my life. I'm quite interested in the technique and stuff tho.

It is a camera persona. As much as I hate the persona and doubtless others do as well, I think most can assuredly say that the guy isn't actually a bad person. I also don't think many can doubt his ability to seem irritating, certainly made people more excited about his bouts with DLH, Hatton, or even Gatti.

Ali did the same thing and many no love him for it while so many hated him then. Difference is that Ali was clever and funny, while Mayweather is not really funny at all.

As long as things go his way hes pretty decent the problem is that at the slightly bit of criticism like when someone asks questions he doesnt want and isnt ready to answer he turns into an annoying douchebag.

annoying absolutely. Combine his speech impediment with his obvious untrained speaking and you have someone who seems scared of every question that could be remotely critical. Not to mention I am sure he realizes this, so I am sure he gets even more nervous conversations go in a direction he doesn't like he comes off as a stuttering twit

He comes across well there, the ring is his sanctuary, and he speaks with comfort. Outside the ring, he's a little awkward imo.

Am I correct in thinking this interview is pre Oscar? Because I see it like this....

...There have been two Floyd Mayweathers that we've seen so far. There was Prettyboy Floyd, back when he was a beast and had the guts to fight anybody and everybody. Then we have Money Mayweather, a persona which was born after the mega rich fight with Oscar, a version which cares predominately about money, and the extended ability to act like a dick.

He acted the same before Gatti, then called it selling the fight which i think it was. I think he has found that he can make a **** load of money by playing the bad guy.

Yeah I remember that too. He always liked playing the bad guy, but like I said, with more exposure and coverage he now has the extended ability to be a dick.
