Look, no hate. Just straight up credit. I always said that Canelo (see, I even left out the extra L for this lone exception) would duck 3B — Beterbiev, Bivol, and Benavidez. Canelo took the Bivol fight when he didn't have to. It's especially impressive considering we just saw Bivol humiliate the much bigger Ramirez over 12 rounds without getting out of first gear.

Canelo will officially have the biggest balls in boxing if he fights Bivol again. Bivol will put himself into second gear and stop Canelo in a rematch.

Canelo picked his mark. Thought Bivol was a can he could knock over.

We will see how 'real' Canelo is if he puts all his belts up at SM v Bivol or not.. Now that he knows he is up against someone who has his measure (at least at LH)

Canelo's not so deluded that he thought he would actually KO Bivol. I mean Sullivan Barrera and big banger Joe Smith couldn't even with a massive haymaker after the bell. I believe Canelo took a calculated risk and he just got found out.

It's true, most knew that Bivol didn't look that impressive in his previous fights before going into the Canelo fight, it could have been a miscalculation by Canelo's team,

Either way he has always had big balls especially in comparison & always brings his best come fight night, great fighter that most could take a few things from if they were too.

Alvarez ducks no one. He may not fight someone because it doesn't fit his need and desire for titles, belts, money, greatness and legacy but he doesn't duck them because he's worried he will lose to them. The man is very confident.

He may no longer fight at 175 because Bivol might have convinced him he doesn't belong there. That remains to be seen. There isn't much quality left at 168 but if he doesn't go back to 175 there is Benavidez and Morrell and that's about it. There also may be some mandatories thrown in.

What Canelo does in the next year or two will be interesting.

Can’t give Canelo any credit for taking the Bivol fight as at the time it was a classic cherry pick gone wrong .What I will give Canelo credit for is if he takes the rematch with Bivol.

So moving up a division to fight the top guy is a "cherry pick" now?

Except Canelo. He thought Floyd was shot. Waited till GGG got old, same with Kovalev. Got caught out vs Bivol, who schooled him, embarrased him, every, single, round. bwhahahaha!!

He's probably going to fight Benavidez or Charlo. When he signs off I expect it will be against Jake Paul. Preposterous as that is...it's hugely lucrative. I think he's going to wrap up his career in the next 24 months.

As for LHW - he had no real business there. He should have grabbed Kovalev's belt as opportunistically as he did and dropped back down. There's serious levels between a used-up Kovalev and Bivol. More a case of buying one's own press than being brave, I think.

Wow, I never thought about the Jake Paul thing. That would be a good way for both of them to end their careers.

At a certain point Jake Paul is going to have to tackle somebody serious who may not play along because he's running out of middle-aged celebs (choosing Anderson Silva was a stroke of genius). That almost happened with Rahman Jr. Paul's own people didn't realize that one of his sparring partners - current Cruiserweight Muhsin Cason - was actually Rahman Jr's uncle! (Fun Fact: Cason is younger than Rahman Jr).

That's why I think Canelo-Paul will probably happen sooner than people think. Gotta make it happen before somebody exposes the ruse.

I was in a long wait the other day and watched the Paul vs Silva replay. For a 5-0 guy that was a pretty decent test! Silva was tricky and pretty energetic in the first 6 rounds. On a logical level I realize he's 40 something and someone with a better pedigree would have stopped him, but those right hooks he was throwing definitely would have tripped up a low end prospect.

I think the danger is less that he gets exposed and more like the audience just gets into boxing and it's like "wtf why am I paying for an early career mismatch?"

But I agree Canelo is probably the end game here. But then, as Canelo, doesn't it make sense to do a few more fights to cash in now that you've finally got a few fans outside of the core boxing audience and select mariachi musicians.

Canelo may be a drug cheat who has as many robberies as any man in boxing history, but I do respect him for taking the Bivol fight. Shame he only won 2 rounds max.
