...Would beat Williams when Williams didn't have a full training camp to prepare for Martinez??????? I mean seriously are many here that dumb for that comment? When Quintana beat Williams in the first fight, both of those fighters had a 2 or 3 weeks to prepare for each other. But in the rematch when both had a full training camp, it was Williams that destroyed Quintana in the 1st round. So if Williams vs Martinez happen in the rematch, they both will have a full training camp in which imo Williams will this time beat Martinez more clearly. I like Martinez in which he has my full respect but i feel in my heart that Williams will win it.

i think williams will win soundly this time. going from cintron and pavlik to quintana and martinez on short notice is tough to do.

having said that martinez looked great at 160 with a full camp. he came in at 168 at looked better than i thought he would. he may very well be more suited to mw than williams.

    still, williams wins imo

Maybe because Williams was already training for a fight, not to mention @160, while Martinez didn't have anything in the horizon, and then again Williams made him go up to 160, a weight he'd never fought b4 to my understanding. Martinez may have been a different opponent, but it doesn't take the fact that Williams was already training. The most difficult part would've been if he'd had to go down to 154 while training for 160, but.... u get the point, right??????? ;)

Why do you have to keep bringing this up over and over again? You just can't bear the thought that somebody might be entertaining negative thoughts about your boy.

Are you stupid? Martinez was already in training camp too when he was suppost to fight in dec vs a tune up fighter but that change and he has to fight Williams on a short notice just like Williams have to prepare to fight a different fighter on a short notice.

    a. let it go

    b. Williams is better after a full training camp, he seems to benefit most from pre-fight preparation.

Yea Martinez was in camp. To fight what u said a TUNE UP. Meanwhile Williams was in camp to fight the biggest fight of his career. So he was actually getting better prepared. While Martinez was training for a tune up that basically had no chance. That makes a big difference in teh intensity of the training.

Just face it Martinez started fading which is why he ended up losing rounds against PW. He didnt show that in the Pavlik fight when he had a full camp to prepare for his opponent. And Pavlik was stalking Martinez chasing him around the ring. That takes alot of energy.

Not to mention Martinez and his trainer are good at making adjustments. Martinez is actually a very smart fighter who can make necessary adjustments. PW is not. He can only fight one way and thats going forward throwing lots of punches. So how in the hell would he benefit more in a rematch. he is going to go do the same thing he always does and Martinez knows this so he will have a better gameplan and better stamina.

PW gets TKOd in the rematch.

Not completely true. Martinez expressed in interviews that he was really preparing for Williams instead of the tune up because they knew the fight against Pavlik probably wasn´t going to happen and they would be the best opponent available.

not to mention the fact that williams and his trainer mentioned that they hadd never seen footage of peterson and were taking him lightly.

I agree..PAUL WAS PREPARING FOR A STRAIGHT FORWARD FIGHTER WHO WAS ORTHODOX AND PUNCHED HARD...HE ENDED UP FACING A SOUTHPAW WHO MOVED, COUNTERED, AND WAS A LOT FASTER THAN WHAT HE WAS PREPARING FOR..FURTHERMORE SM HAS A VERY DIFFERENT STYLE THAN KP

who cares what some other poster said...fact is that paul was preparing for an orthodox fighter and ended up fighting a southpaw..

Styles make fights..when u n a training camp n focusing on a gameplan to fight a certain style than u gotta be able to execute...but when u have a totally different style in front of u it does make a difference..

Im not saying the outcome of the fight woulda been different but im just saying that kp and sm are two totally different styles that any fighter has to prepare for differently...
