do you know anything about karim mayfield's resume? he said he sparred with mosley and other world champs and held his own. of course you know sparring and fighting are two different things. do you know anything about sf's ashanti jordan? i believe he's heavyweight.

just take bart and get off at collieseim and follow the crowd and over that overpass or bridge and you'll be fine. about a five minute walk from bart station.

I've seen Karim fight 3 or 4 times, in Oakland and San Jose. Action fighter. Tonight's fight is his 3rd 8 rounder. He has fought 4 other undefeated fighters, all of them with single digit wins. He is 12-0-1, and only three of his opponents have had losing records. No major steps up in competition quite yet, but he hasn't been in there soft either. He WILL fight dirty if he feels the need! He's definitely no stranger to ugly fights. The guy is a scrapper!

I'm familiar with Ashanti Jordan. He is a heavyweight. I believe I may have (or may not have) mentioned to you that a good friend of mine has sparred regularly with Ward for many years. The same friend, who fights at around 185-190, has sparred Ashanti numerous times as well. Ashanti sparred Chris Arreola in Arreola's preparation for Adamek recently. He received his first loss recently.

Doby, one thing I want to mention to you that I forgot earlier, since you are new to the area and in case you don't already know (Motownsiu will assure you too): Since you are riding BART, like Motownsiu said, just follow the crowd over the freeway to the arena. But more importantly, make sure you go straight to the BART station afterwards, when it is dark out. The surrounding neighborhood is NOT the kind anybody wants to be walking around in at night. I doubt you had any intentions of wandering around Oakland at night or anything, but just in case.

Thanks for the heads up. Oakland has definitely been an eye opener since moving out here.

If you get a chance to look at the judges score cards before the fight you will see that they are already filled out for "their" boxer Ward. Ward's own personal referee will protect his as well. Ward will use his head butt because his referee claims that head butts are legal, but only for his boxer Ward. Ward refused to fight in the tournament unless all his fights were in his home town. There was a reason for such.

Still unsure, reports today (Frank Warren) suggested Ireland is a possible location, as well as the already reported Canada.

Sometimes seats too close aren't as good because of the angle at which you have to look up at. It's one thing if you're ringside in the first couple rows, but not so much if you're a few rows back at ground level. I saw the Filipino/Mexican fights in Sacramento in 2007 and our seats were close, maybe 8-10 rows back, but the angle wasn't that great. You had to look up at the ring. The best seats I've had for seeing a fight live was in the 2nd section where the seats are going upwards and we were looking slightly downwards at the ring. Close enough to see the action and hear the punches, but not too close where the angle is bad.

Mayfield also went to England to spar with Hatton when he fought Mayweather. I've only seen him once during that ugly no-contest. I got to the Ward-Kessler fight late and missed his fight. My friend knows Karim and his brother, I think he grew up with them in Fillmore, but we haven't really seen much of him in action.

I read that he won tonight though.

From what I've seen and heard of him, I don't expect him to be at the top of the sport or anything, but maybe someone who hopefully make exciting fights and make good money.

As a little kid, I always knew Oakland as "that city where everybody gets shot".

I sat about 8-10 rows back where the seats start to raise from the floor for Ward-Miranda. I felt sorry (okay, not really) for those rich ****ers who paid twice as much to sit a few rows back from the ring, in what might have been some uncomfortable ass looking metal folding chairs, as they struggled to look way UP into the ring above them. A few rows back off of the floor, for much less money, is PERFECT! Couldn't quite get so close at Ward-Kessler. Despite numerous objects standing in my way, I plan on being there again Saturday night, barring death. They'll **** around and show the main event early, so I get there when the doors open. Last card was good all the way through. Will you be making your way out there Saturday?

Pretty spot-on. He's a raw fighter, not very polished. He definitely has the entertainment factor on his side. He lacks fear.
