It took him two fights to handle a guy that Foreman and Alfonso Gomez handled in 1?

Right now, Jones would be lucky to be seen as a top contender. But since he isn't, he just needs to keep fighting fringe contenders or the gatekeepers of the division for a little more.

He fought like an idiot in the first fight. In the second he show'd good skills and intelligence. I'm not gonna anoit him the next American star but he has some ability. Let him fight against some better comp and than judge him.

Black man with muscles syndrome, see Jeff Lacy, Berto, Cloud ect. I look for talent. Not how a fighter looks when he takes his shirt off.

The fact that Michigan Warrior used a video of Floyd says TONS about his ability to discuss a fight or give it a proper analysis of another fighter. As if this is any surprise for a poster who doesn't know WTF FLOORED means....

"he's not as good as floyd. He's just mediocre..." :|:|:|

Mike is from Philly, so I'm definitely a fan. However, he's nothing special. He's got solid all around skills, but he doesn't seem to have the makings of an elite level fighter. He doesn't seem to have much of an inside game, he doesn't have excellent power, handspeed, or timing. He's just a solid all around fighter. Maybe if he works real hard he can become a late bloomer. For now, I see him as a second tier talent. That's not neccesarily a bad thing though. Not everyone can be an elite talent.

You're 40 years old and live in Alaska. Nothing you say would make me feel bad. Seriously. :rofl

I used Floyd as an example, because Floyd toyed with Bruseles, discussed NFL matchup, basically had a dance off in the ring and still pummeled and stopped Bruseles.

Mike Jones was twice Bruseles size, and yet couldnt get him out of there, infact pretty much won on activity and really never hurt Bruseles.

I watched that fight LIVE btw.

You see Lance, its why I know so much more then you about boxing. And you dont. :good

I look for timing, speed, accuracy and the ability to physically abuse an overmatched opponent. I could care less about muscles or padded KO %'s.

    :good Well said.

Its basically how I feel about Peter Quillin. He's from Grand Rapids, my hometown. Lot of flaws in his game though. And I wont be deluded in thinking this guy is ready for the big time if he is ever ready for it.

I was deluded in my support for Devon Alexander. Nothing wrong with getting somethings wrong with a prospect.

Mayweather's economy of motion is brilliant. Mike Jones is all over the place, swinging and missing, tiring himself out. Mayweather doesn't move a millimeter more than he has to do and rarely wastes a punch.

Once again Conraddobbler puts my thoughts together better in writing then I can.

Btw, that ugly ass half jab he was doing. I HATE that more then anything else.

Thats the punch that gets you ****ED UP against an elite fighter. Lazy ass jab.

Who has been impressed with Mike Jones? He arguably lost to Soto Karass.

I am not very impressed with him either but I believe he's still a work in progress. The best part is that he said so himself. He's very dedicated to the sport and he will be improved in his next fight. Assuming he's in with a dangerous opponent of course.

He reminds me of a lesser version of Paul Williams in some ways- he's a little more skilled, but isn't as well conditioned, and gets alot of mileage off of his size advantage at the weight. Decent puncher, but not a great one.

Room to improve, but the question is, will he? As of now, I don't see him being a top level guy, but I could be wrong and he could show us something more when he steps up. I want to see him fight a top 10 guy or two before I form a solid opinion on him.

im not a fan and am not entirely sold but atleast he hasnt lost yet though i think he lost the first karrass fight

he also for a young guy has atleast been battle tested and learned lessons prior to taking a title shot and getting pounded

he has figured out his limitations and tightened his game for the future lets see what he does next
