Son, I've been around the block a great many times in my long life and have learned one very important lesson - that all of us at one time or another has had to eat crow. Luckily, you're not the only one who made that mistake and, I'm very sure, others will make worse mistakes in their lives.

I would be down with this sentiment if RVK hadn't been a complete tool about his prediction. Also, I am so damn tired of all the arrogant people among boxing's fanbase. They all play up their knowledge of boxing, making it appear as if it is a honed science, then they make predictions and claim that anyone who doesn't agree with them are idiots. Boxing is the best sport with the worst audience. That being said, it is wonderful to see these posturing shits continuously proven wrong.

A lot of what you say is true and perhaps it's time for all boxing fans to step back just a bit and reflect on those words.

I often post on football, baseball, lacrosse, and tennis websites. Generally the exchanges are good though it can get heated at times. But one thing I never see in other sports sites is the claim that "you don't know WTF you're talking about" or "you're an idiot for thinking that way."

People generally just agree to disagree. And that's the way it should be. But boxing fans are different. I've had several people on this and another boxing forum that I don't know what I'm talking about. I reply that except for John Garfield, I'm probably the oldest boxing fan around, that I've seen many hundreds of matches over the years, that my dad was a club fighter, that I boxed as an amateur (though I'm honest enough to confess to having failed miserably).

I love pro boxing and think my knowledge of the sport is as good as anyone's. On another site I work as mod in a chat room and comment on the matches. Several chatters have said they enjoy my posts and generally agree that I am knowledgeable about the sport. One thing I don't do anymore is to make predictions as I'm likely to jinx someone.
