Vacate his title to avoid fighting Dawson ...

If Hopkins beats Pascal .. he is supposed to defend it against Dawson but he's been running from dawson ... dawson has been calling him out and he always said he was interest .. pascal beats dawson proceeds to call hopkkins out and there goes hopkins talking about "he called me out so I have to step up" ..

B-hop is a smart fighter and business man ... he knows that at this stage of his career dawson is too much of a talent to deal with ... so he's doing the smart thing and ignoring Chad ..

The guy he just drew with (beat) is better than Dawson.

Well he is 46 already, and had great career. He just schooled the guy who beat Dawson. Maybe he dont want to fight him, but i think he already achieved a lot and earned right to do whatever he wants. Of course that fight would be nice to see, but its not something like pac-may or wlad-haye that boxing fans are really pissed about.

Yep, he is already talking up a Bute fight.

He has learned his lesson not take fights against guys his size who can throw combos with good speed and athleticism. That's were he got his losses. A one-handed RJJ, Jermain Taylor, Calzaghe all gave him his toughest fights. Hell even DLH managed to have some success before Hopkins wore him down.

I'd like to see him beat Pascal and Bute this year and then retire.

It would be a boring fight and if he fight the way he(Hopkins) fought Pascal Dawson will lose. The man is used to fighting slow old fighters and as soon as Pascal stepped on the gas it was over.

Please close stupid speculation thread using stupid non-boxing knowledge to draw incorrect conclusions. Somebody give the thread starter a liver shot everytime he thinks of starting stupid threads.

    Sounds about right.

Dawson just doesn't seem like a good style for Bhop to fight at this point, and he knows it.

Actually, Dawson's low-workrate plays into Hopkins' hands. Hopkins is 46 and has been taking risks throughout his career so I can't blame him if he wants to pick and choose. At this point of his career I see him fighting for legacy a little bit(to be the oldest champion blah blah) but mostly for money. He has a long history of giving southpaws problems but the thing that bothers him the most is his current stamina. He's crafty enough to take breathers or whatever but Pascal's bad stamina played into Hopkins' hands. I hope he beats Pascal and retires as he isn't getting any younger though he is an aging marvel.

Hopkins had his eyes set on that record of being the oldest man to win a title. He tried his shot against Pascal and failed. Now that he knows that he cannot beat Pascal, Golden Boy will try to have Pascal stripped so that Hopkins can fight for the vacant WBC belt against some nobody. Then he will have his record and he can retire in peace.
