Last night reminded me of that fight. I get people hate Broner, but damn. Be realistic. I'm not comparing Broner to SRL, but the situation is similar. To me Broner lost because of his ego. He wanted to prove he could bang, and took a L for it. The book has been out on Chino for a while now. All Broner had to do is spin out after he threw a combination and hold when Chino got close. That would have cut Maidana's workrate in half. I have seen Broner do this in many fights so I know he's capable of doing it. Imo, there is no way that Broner, and his team studied film for this fight. Having said that Im higher on Broner than I was before the fight. As small as Broner is, to fight Maidana that way is impressive to me. The punches he took, the way he recovered. He got knockdown twice, and he was still pressing the attack untill the final bell. That tells me that Broner is not a broken man, If the humility set in, he will start to take this seriously. I think he would win the rematch against Maidana. But , the bigger issue is. Broner has no business fighting at 147 right now. especially against the biggest puncher in the division. Under 2 years ago the kid was at 130. So don't give me that Mayweather B.s. Floyd didn't fight at 147 until he was damn near 30. And for damn sure didn't fight a cotto, or margarito type fighter. People have selective memories, it took Floyd a while to develop his style to where it is today. At the lower weights Floyds defense was hardly as good as it is now. He got rocked a lot back then. Floyd respected the process of development, Broner did not. Floyd was at 130-135. At 24. Exactly where Broner should be. There's only 2 guys from 130-140 That could potentially beat Broner.. Imo.
Broner is maybe 1/4 as talented as SRL. and that's being generous. Oh and Duran is a legitimate ATG himself
No he fought the wrong fight against Duran and learned from it.The difference was Leonard always carried himself with class. But I do agree he has no business at 147
Leonard actually lost a close SD to Duran. He showed in that fight that there was more to him than people thought. Broner lost a wide decision, and hit the canvas twice. That fight last night exposed even more flaws of Broner. He's a good fighter, but you can out box him and you can out fight him.
Broner didn't lose because of his ego. Give credit to Maidana and stop making excuses for Broner. Broner was exposed as a stereotypical hypejob last night and his ass got handed to him.
Broner had the wrong gameplan That's all It's fight showed just how important the gameplan is to boxing
this fight shows how important boxing skill is. Your **** comment basicly said Maidana didn't win. Broner gave it away. please log of and never post again.
Broner with a good gameplan is better than a journeyman like maidana I don't like broner but he's definitely a good boxer He just needs to work on a few things
what was the gameplan suppose to be? for broner to box all night with his superior footwork??? rofl.. if broners fully committed to that gameplan maidana would stalk him down relentlessly. but if they fight again im sure broner will try n do that. sluggin sure isnt good because wen ev they started to throw broner got clipped all night.
I don't know what's worse. Comparing SRL to bum Broner or comparing Duran to journeyman Maidana. I'm going with SRL-Broner comparison.
Lol, I haven't seen anyone hating on Maidana or taking his credit away. This thread is about Broner though. And I don't think anyone would argue with the fact that if Broner would have cliched after he ran off his combinations, instead of backing up with his hands down he would have got hit less. That's how he got knocked down both times. The point of this thread is that Broner fought the worst possible fight he could have fought, and still found moderate success. Broner makes a few adjustments he could beat Maidana. Yes I agree the Broner hype was too soon. But he's not a hype job, or else he have quit like Ortiz. Or he wouldn't have got up.
:good It is so ridicules to claim he lost because of game plan. Like Maidana had nothing to do with it.
Broner was showed last night he has No business at 147 and possibly 140. he should go back down to 135 and in about 3-4 years move up to 140 then 147 2 years after that. he'll be 30 by then and have matured into a real 147lb fighter
so what the op is saying is that all fighters should cherry pick their way to the top and that falling on the floor like a damn soccer player is admirable? smh
