In my career I had six fifteen round fights in THREE months. In my career I fought 51 fifteen round bouts, and I was physically handicapped....I fought in much less pampered times. Who am I ?

This'll be interesting. [Yes, I know exactly who it is, but am curious to see if somebody who's not a Surf-Bat, Bukkake or Klompton can come up with it.]

Burt, maybe you should have restricted this to ONLY posters who joined AFTER 2010.

dougie, you post like Haley's comet, once a century but you are on target. Yes the remarkable British FW champion Nel Tarleton who in 1927 fought SIX 15 round bouts in a 3 month period, all going the distance. In his career Tarleton had a grand total of FIFTY ONE 15 round bouts, and fought til the age of 42...And all this with but the use of ONE LUNG....:patsch:patsch

when i did my 5 minutes of amateur boxing back in the 80's...our trainer was jackie turpin (randys brother) who was featherweight (mainly) on uk pro circuit in mid / late 40's and 50's....it naturally led me to read up a lot on other top level british pro's of that era....jackie has a great book out (he died a few years ago)

hope this post finds you well burt old friend :)

And with that, we bring you...

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OvtcvTwXnRM

Being a tall guy for his weight with limited power, most extant footage shows him moving and fencing stylishly with his jab, but he shows surprising aggression and power here with his body attack.

In Klompton's Greb book he mentions a 5 day period early in his career in which Greb had two fights planned (6 or 10 rounders?) and a marathon to run in between them.

Those kinda balls have been outlawed in this day and age.

:lol:Sorry to be a killjoy man, but we both know I had to put up the velvet barricade to stop that, before you appeared at the front of the line! [This competition should be for "amateurs," but doug.ie somehow slipped under the rope!]

We don't have guys like Greb, Britton or Rosenbloom on action footage in the States, but thanks to British Movietone, we can enjoy seeing and hearing Nella compete in these live sound snippets, and that's a treat!
