No, i had McDermott ahead but I wouldn't have been disgruntled at a draw. The margin of O'Connor's scorecard is what has made people more irritated than usual. If he'd have had it one round to Fury people could have understood it. but 98-92 is ridiculous. As for proving or disproving Fury's calibre, I don't think this fight tells us anything other than he can take a dig and has a long way to go and possibly that McDermott has the blueprint on how to fight Fury. I think he should be given credit for taking the fight as it was a huge risk.
Excellent post :happy God there's some overreactions on this board today!!atsch I had the fight to big Bad John by a round but wasn't 'disgusted' or 'ashamed' when the fight went to Tyson. It's what you like - Fury worked harder and threw more punches while John landed the quality work and didn't waste much. As for the turning around yes that was very annoying and occurred everytime Fury seemed to be putting together good shots. But great credit to Big John who made it a fantastic fight. To be honest that seems to have been forgotten in the scoring debate - it was the best British heavyweight fight I've seen for the last few years bar Martin Rogan's last two!!:happy As for Tyson he shouldn't be too downhearted - he had an off night, his timing and balance were off but he showed tremendous character and well and truly silenced the idiots on here who said he would struggle to take a shot:nono And remember he is only 21!!
I had it a draw, 95-95. I thought McDermott worked well early doors but Fury turned it on and closed the show. A case could be made either way but 98-92 is a joke. However so is Jim Watt.
You forgot "embarrassed". It was a pretty bad decision IMHO but, as you say, theres no need for all the amatuer dramatics.
