Scorecard Round 1 Jermaine 10-9 Round 2 Jermaine 10-8 Round 3 Pavlik 10-9 Round 4 Pavlik 10-9 Round 5 Jermaine 10-9 Round 6 Pavlik 10-9 57-56 Taylor. Round 1 could have gone either way, but I gave the benefit of the doubt to the champ. I could see it as a draw, or for Pavlik. Is that such a wrong scorecard? Also, I earned a lot of respect for Taylor this fight. He fought hard, took some wicked shots, and it seemed like he left it all in the ring. The guy isn't used to fighting fighters with longer jabs than he has, and it definitely showed. I'd love to see a rematch.
Who doesnt have Jermaine winning before the knockout is an idiot? who are these people?? I was ecstatic to see JT get hammered but he was winning
I can understand people having Pavlik winning by 1 point. Like I said, the first round can probably go either way. I definitely disagree with the judge that had Taylor up 4 points though. That is ridiculous. That judge must have had round 1 even and given Jermaine, I guess round 6? I'd like to see that scorecard.
I had Jermaine ahead as well. But, sometimes, that doesn't matter when you fight guys who are willing to loose rounds to wear you down cause they are expecting to take you out sooner or later.
I think Jermaine was crisper and moreexplosive. Only round I gave to Pavlik was the 1st and 6th. I thought just surviving the 3rd made alot of folks count if for Pavlik. His jabs were effective though but most power punches were telegraphic. I mean he cornered JT alot but didnt cleanly hit him actually he got countered quite a bit
Definitely. I had Taylor ahead on the scorecards, yet, I would have been reluctant to say that he was winning the fight. The 10 point must round based system isn't necessarily the best at calculating who is causing the most damage, or wearing down the opponent more. If it were a 6 round fight, Taylor would have won on the scorecards, even though it was pretty clear that Pavlik was coming on stronger and stronger. If Taylor-Hopkins 1 was a 15 round fight instead of a 12, being that it was pretty clear that Hopkins was coming on stronger and stronger, perhaps Hopkins would have won, though at the end of 12, using the 10 point must round scoring system, I had it for Taylor.
I had Pavlik ahead going into the Seventh by one point based on the knockdown. That said, by this point I had him in complete control of the fight, winning the rounds and taking over... which is why it wasn't surprising to see him finally get the knockout.
Exactly, and what I don't see a lot of is the fact that he was establishing his gameplan well in the final half the of the first and before the KD in the second, he was turning up the heat, only to get a broken nose during the KD. The broken nose and fact that he was hurt had him tenative for the next few, but he adapted and actually used a little defence and began to turn up the heat some more and effectively pressure Taylor and soon regained total control. Even if he didn't score the KO in round 7, he'd have gotten him a few rounds later because Taylor quickly unraveled under that much pressure from the big man.
You stuck to you're original pick and called it:good Check the rematch, see what happens with Calzaghe vs Kessler and then be happy that Pavlik would be a worthy opponent:yep
No way in hell Jermiane won the first. Under no scoring standard did he win that round. Watch it again, count how many times he got hit, rewatch it, count his clean hits and come back and tell me he won. He was frantic acting but not effective.
