Gil Clancy was in Ali's corner for one fight when he worked it with Angelo Dundee when Ali fought Sonny Banks. Banks knocked him down in the first round. Clancy said I didn't have to revive Ali. I had to revive Angie.
Clancy managed Alex Miteff. If you watch his fight with Ali you'll see a Black man lift Ali up after his win. That was his sparring partner Solomon McTier. A buddy of mine fought him and got knocked out in the late seventies by him. I never put the connection together until many years later.
