7-5 would be consider a close match. Except I know Floyd won 7 EASY. without a doubt. You can even argue 9-3 like Max Kellerman stated. But is no where near controvisal bc He won 7 hands down.
I'd say he's boring because he has never shown he has the heart of a warrior. I'm not saying every fighter must put on a Gatti like exciting fight every time they get in the ring, but Floyd has never given boxing fans an exciting performance. Being a prize fighter/entertainer means you must ENTERTAIN the fans to keep them watching. Floyd fails to provide excitement the way so many other great fighters have like Trinidad, Morales, Barrera, DLH, Pavlik, Cotto, Vargas, Pacman, Corrales etc. Floyd's performances are ****ing boring.
His fights is very exciting to me... BC he is smaller man and still finds a win to pwned his opponents. Plus I don't even want to be at ESB for a few weeks if he loses everyone hates him and his fans so and the expectation is so freaky high. Floyd can't win really.
I've been a Floyd fan for a while now, and as is the case with any athletes that I cheer for, I'm not put off by arrogance. When you're competing at that high of a level and have that much talent and money, high self confidence is bound to follow. From my experience, I've seen that the majority of people that get really upset over a person's arrogance do so as a result of their own insecurities. Someone flaunting their own talents and success remind people of their own deficiencies and failures. Honestly, I really don't know what type of person Floyd is. From what I've seen during interviews and T.V appereances, his personality seems very inconsistent. When he's hyping a fight, he's very loud and arrogant. I've seen other times when he's not hyping a fight, and he seems very reserved and proper. None of us really know these athletes, and those that pretend they do are fooling themselves.
don't believe that floyd is 38-0, to the haters he is a bum and mediocre fighter because he uses his brain to neutralize the size advantage of his opponents.
well i don't hate floyd. i think he's one of the most skilled boxers of our generation. his **** talk, i think, isn't really him. he just seems so unnatural about it. i think he acts like that to promote fights.
he only does that to promote himself and fights...the more people who hate him the more you tune in just to see someone shut him up.....most of you call him boring but i bet you still tune in to see if he loses or even just looks bad. if you have seen mayweather like someone mentioned earlier in interviews away from boxing or not close to a fight he is a very respectful person who actually speaks with respect and sense. Even on HBO after the ODH fight Oscar was on the T.V and Floyd was on stage for a interview between the two and he was respectful to Oscar.....didnt trash talk didnt say anything negative he let Oscar state his piece on what happened and how he felt he won and Floyd never said a negative thing about him.....all he did was say he would love to rematch Oscar...so i definitely think he turns it on and off when he wants.
As I said earlier, there's nothing wrong with confidence. In fact confidence is a must for anyone to succeed at anything in life. Big difference between being confident and acting like a arrogant ebonic speaking dildo. Floyd doesn't come off as confident he comes across as annoying. If I get annoyed by douchebags who act like him it has nothing to do with my own insecurities, it has to do with me being annoyed by a douchebag. Don't get me wrong, not everyone should be as humble as Kostya Tszyu and I appreciate hype for a fight and I love some good trash talk. Mayorga and Ali are two great examples of great trash talkers to hype a fight. But they are funny and witty as hell. Floyd's just a ****ing annoying thug wannabe and he sounds childish.
Exactly. Was Dennis Rodman a great basketball player, is Britney Spears a great singer? 50 cent a great rapper?
I love the Hatton quote/story that has been documented in many places. This passage is taken from Boxnews but I am sure you've all read the story. Fans exiting the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, Nevada, on December 12, 2005, following Jermain Taylor's second points over Bernard Hopkins were unaware that they'd nearly witnessed an even bigger fight. Just minutes before Hopkins made his ring walk, a pair of pound-for-pound talents very nearly 'got into it' at ringside. The fighters in question were Ricky Hatton and Floyd Mayweather Junior. Both junior welterweight king Hatton and pound-for-pound prince Mayweather were at ringside for the fight and, as Hatton told the British press recently, their meeting was an acerbic one. "I only said two words to him, really," Hatton began."I was sitting at ringside on my own and I saw him walking down my row. I'd never met him in my life so I stood up thinking 'Well, this will be interesting'. I went to shake his hand and said "Nice to meet you Floyd" but instead of taking my hand he started pointing at me going 'I'm gonna get you! Outta my way!' "I said, 'Get out of the way? **** off!'. Hatton claims he then sat back down in his fourth row seat and put his feet up on the chair in front and folded his arms, blatantly blocking the pound-for-pounder's path. However, a HBO rep ushered Mayweather in the other direction before fans could be treated to a fight which would have made up for the average 12 rounds between Taylor and Hopkins. Hatton continued: "As he walked away I thought 'It isn't just for the cameras, is it? You're a proper dick, aren't ya?' I mean, there was no-one around us at all so he didn't have to act tough at all but. I also heard he went up to Sugar Ray Leonard and told him that he would have knocked Sugar Ray out. The guy's got no class."
All this hatred of Floyd shows one thing: fear. They know Ricky will be a bloodied up mess come December 8th...so come on fellows, take it like a man. Oh, and by the way, Ricky reminds me of Otis Campbell from Mayberry.
Fear? I ain't getting in the ring with him. I don't give Hatton too much hope of winning the fight but you never know in boxing. I don't like FMJ because he's a trash talking, arrogant *****....that's it.
damn right.it wouldnt have been too bad if it was just a throwaway comment, but he repeated it to his flunkey like it was genuinely witty and clever.:-(
