We here this all the time from boxers and it really pisses me off.

Tony Dodson says he won't fight Tony Bellew because he "is like family" and I have heard Bellew say "I am good freinds with Courtney Fry so I wouldn't fight him without a title on the line"

This is just bull****. Its not like theres a huge amount of decent domestic fighters for everyone to face off agaisnt eachother. The same happens on the world scene. Apparently Berto wont fight Bradley for this reason.

Unless your brothers........you fight. Simple as that.

Rob, it's a non point you are making. These guys are only being honest. Ok, put a very good purse in front of some of them, then maybe things change, but it would be a bit two faced to say, "you are my mate", and then "i am going to **** you up"

    This.

Not everyone is so easy with the "its just business" line when it comes to fighting friends.

I hate it when they say they are lovers....

I would happily punch any of my mates for money.

Having said that, Montiel and Concepcion seem pretty easy going about putting aside their friendship for the duration of a fight (first minute of above).

I think what Rob means is, these fighters are probably not best mates, as in hang out all the time. If they are then fair enough, fighting one of your best mates would be a no go for me. But if these are friends in the business i.e. 'I sparred them, we chatted, he's cool' then I don't see why they can't fight. Obviously I don't know the relationships between the fighters mentioned though. I mean I spar with people who I box with, they're cool people, would I fight them for real for money? Of course. Would I fight my best mate? No way.

you could argue that if your motivation is to beat the other guy then you want to have a bit of hate and anger against him. if you have warmed to him one before then it's harder to have a means streak.

so it depends on the people.

blocker & brown are true professionals they did it because they needed to unify

id happily fight my mates in the ring. as long as u have a few pints after to clear the air, i see no problem wih it.

Boxing can be a cruel world and sometimes u gota put friendship aside to further your career and securing ur families future

i can understand it all if it is for a legit title, but not in meaningless 8 rounders
