I hate it when fighters say "I won't fight him because we are good friends"

You need to have that killer instinct inside you in the ring surely and want to hurt the opponent badly. I can totally understand it when some boxers say it.

I'd guess in varies, some boxers would have a "coundn't give a ****" mentality whereas it would be really difficult for others. To each his own.

Yeah unfortunately it has happened and may have ruined some potential barn burners..

wasn't tyson and bowe cool with eachother? But if they ever did met..who knows what would happen? yeah Brutality..especially as Don King would be in the middle.

I thought Bowe and Tyson had a bit of rivalry going.

From memory they matched him with Golota to keep him busy whilst Tyson got a title..... obviously Golota belted him the first time and then there was the rematch.

Would have been a good fight if Tyson hadn't got himself banged up. By 1996 Bowe was slipping fast, I think Tyson had enough left to beat him handily at that time.

Barrera and Tapia were good friends, but i think that stems from boxing and not the streets

i have it, it's pretty good, the info in there is tough to handle but worded and structured quite poorly..Hearing him in person or in an interview will convey a better view!

    :rofl:rofl:roflWhile this is funny,

The sport is a business and as long as both men are paid decent money then I don't see a problem, I wouldn't personally ask for a fight against a friend like I didn't against Fry but if they say he said yes then you better believe I will not be saying NO!!!! I refuse to back down to anything and anyone..;) I leave matchmaking to the matchmaker....:good

I think this is the point the tony is making. No one asks to fight their mate, but will do if paid. Maybe i was wrong with the only for titles thing i don't know, but i don't know anyone who in their right mind who would ask for a fight with their mate, but when it's business, well that's different.
I would imagine it's much easier to get into a ring with someone you don't know or dislike

Would your mindset possibly be any different though? For example if you had a really heated rivalry with someone then are you more determined to take the guy's head off in the ring than if you were in the ring with someone like Fry? Or is it just all the same once you get in that ring?
