I have a bad feeling Cotto will take the GGG fight

I believe he will await the Canelo vs Lara winner.

 

Not sure y op has bad feeling that cotto fights ggg. He should. All this worried about cotto taking a horrible beating...he's a world class professional and he's much more skilled and experienced than ggg. I think it would be a great fight that cotto could do well in. Wouldn't count him out of it so soon. If he takes a beating he takes a beating. Roach won't let him martyr himself. He could completely befuddle ggg tho. The guys never been in the ring with anyone close to cottos skillset.

Fight Canelo and just retire out on top .

Nah, I don't believe Cotto is that stupid or masochistic.

 

This is the only fight that makes any sense but it seems unlikely if you listen to what Arum has to say. He wants a softer touch, like Bradley or Canelo. If Cotto does this, though, he should have to relinquish his MW belt.

Cotto vs Bradley for MW title... is just fking dumb. Hopefully that was just a random Arumism.

Canelo would be OK though, Canelo is badly in need of moving up in weight. If he won, we could at least reasonably expect that he would henceforth be fighting 160 pounders and not creating a brand new 155 pound division.

 

Many people believed GGG would beat Martinez. GGG is not old, injury prone or an ex welter-weight. He also has good fundamental skills, a good chin and ridiculous power. I'm a big fan of Cotto but he is too small for someone like GGG. If they were naturally the same size it would be a good fight.

I don't think they'll fight GGG sooner but given the facts,, Cotto would fight anyone..... Remember the interview when Cotto was asked about Martinez (this was years ago) and Cotto replied with "Would that give me money?" something like that..... Give him enough fight purse and he might fight Ward next!!!

 

Cotto has far more to lose than Morales did. There are far more lucrative and less dangerous ways to sell the belt...which is what he would be doing if he fought GGG. He needs to fight Floyd, Canelo or retire and focus on being a promoter.

 

If Cotto does take that fight.....i think he deserves to be in discussion with Floyd, B-Hop and Pac of this era

 

If Cotto just did it for history he should just vacate and go back to 154 or at least face Quillin, GGG, or winner of Jacobs vs Fletcher to Unify. If GGG does great at MSG a lot of the Boxing world be demanding Cotto to face him in the Garden, especially if Canelo loses to Lara and the Fact that Mayweather's last fight this year is September.
