I think GGG will deliberately try to look beatable in this fight just to lure Cotto-Canelo winner in to an unification fight with him. Just imagine if he will smash Lemieux inside 5 rounds, then I assume that the WBC / WBO champs would try to find a way to avoid a fight with GGG by milking their belts against easier opposition. :think
That's a very stupid gameplan for anyone to try and utilize in boxing. I don't see any reason why he'd make himself susceptible to getting hit with shots that he could avoid. It doesn't make any sense at all. Regardless of how good Gennady's chin is, the dynamics of a fight can change very quickly with one shot. Why should he put himself in harms way? He's already building his brand and has the backing of HBO. As long as he continues to win in spectacular fashion, HBO is going to coerce other top tier guys to get in the ring with him by offering lucrative paydays. Gennady just has to keep steamrolling his opposition. He doesn't need to fight in a manner that makes him vulnerable to getting hurt.
Stretching out a fight with a guy that has 1 punch KO power in both hands, giving him as large a window as possible... sounds like a plan
Yeah , it could go very wrong for GGG but maybe if Golovkin somehow will try to carry Lemiux for the 12 rounds of the fight by making the fight to look competitive. :think
I didn't even factor in how hard Lemieux can crack. Even if a guy is seemingly featherfisted, fighters shouldn't just allow themselves to become a punching bag for their opposition just to "lure" the other top level guys into a match down the road with them. But as you mentioned, with the way David punches it would be in Gennady's best interest to try and get him out of there without leaving himself open too much. This is definitely GGG's toughest challenge to date, a guy who has good power in both hands.
He won't do that with Lemieux. If he does, he's a dumbass. He better box, take a look at what David's got, and then look to wrap things up ASAP. I think Lemieux will have a good first round, and then Gennady drops the hammer in the second. He can't afford to play wih David.
In the Lounge we used to have a thread called ''I've got something to say but it doesn't warrant its own thread''. I wished there was one here where all the BS opinion threads got dumped in.
If GGG decides to allow him to stay in there he is taking a BIG RISK:shock: That would be stupid on GGGs part IMO:deal
He won't wait until his opponent gains confidence before he sends a huge warning like he usually does. He knows that Lemieux power is a treat and won't wait very long before he throws something that will make Lemieux think twice before getting involve in an exchange.
