it seems that some of you critics think that donaire did not get big fights after the darchinyan win because of his own undoing. but when you look at it, a fight with montiel did not materialize because he did not move up, yet, some of you are claiming that donaire has been wasting his time lately. do you really think it is his own fault?

I don't really want to discuss it. I have no idea why Donaire has not gone on to be the big star after his crushing win over the undefeated Darchinyan.

if he was to have a rematch with Vic, I'd expect him to outclass him and knock him out in the middle rounds just as he did last time. Donaire is a great fighter.

you changed your name, selfkill? tbh whats happening to donaires career really bugs me. i probably just dont want donaire to end up being like junior jones or vince philips cause imo he is a special fighter, and i hope after concepcion hed go for the bigger fish or unify the superfly title before facing darchi again should he become bw champ.

I changed my name, yes. I've been meaning to do it for awhile. The name "selfkill" doesn't reflect very well on me.

Donaire has the potential to be a much greater fighter than Junior Jones. He would benefit with Golden Boy. He is an exciting fighter, a world champion, with fantastic skills. I'm sure if they can snap up the likes of Robert Guerrero, who I am a fan of, then they can also reserve a spot for Nonito Donaire.

When you consider he is fighting for a title soon, and has already crashed the top 10 P4P list according to Ring Magazine. Donaire ain't doing all that bad.

Donaire is with Arum's Top Rank...

Donaire had problems after the big Darchinyan win... He split with promoter Gary Shaw then he has misunderstandings with his father/trainer...

I think all is ironed out now and Donaire is on his way to the big fights again...

I know he is with a Top Rank, but up to this point they haven't really proved to be beneficial.

I'll take your word for it. It certainly isn't Donaire himself that is keeping him from getting exposure. He is on a knockout streak.

In the end, I doesn't matter who's fault it is, but Donaire is a cool guy who wasn't the most lucky guy after his big win. But he should really ask for better fights than Rafael Concepcion. I dare to criticize Nonito because he's a HELL LOT better than the competition he's fighting.

I certainly hope you're right. He looks to be that rare kind of fighter who brings a lot of action as well as a lot of pure boxing skills to the game, it would be a shame to lose him to obscurity.

Plus, the Philippines needs a signature fighter after Pac retires, I think Donaire could be the one.

Yep he's on 5 KO/TKO win streak including that of Darchinyan... I'm guessing after this August 15 interim 115 lbs. title fight, Donaire will have a regular 115 lbs. title fight then move to 118 lbs. (provided Donaire keeps on winning)...

Donaire has done okay for himself. No he hasn't fought any big names since the Vic fight but you guys act like there's really that many recognizable names in the flyweight division. Obviously when you compare Vic's resume to his resume since they last fought, it's not even close. But I'm waiting for Nonito to move up in weight, hopefully fight Vic again, and likely destroy him again.

Donaire definetely wanted the fights but Shaw really had no idea what to do with him, was still upset that he beat Vic. After the Maldonado fight he was scheduled to defend against Hussein, and within a month of the fight they had to cancel it due to a lack of sponsors. He was insisting a fight with Mijares when a agreement was made but Shaw wanted Vic to take the shot, he seemed intent on rebuilding Vic's career than building Donaire's. Cant put too much blame on Nonito for how his career has turned out so far.

This guy is soooo talented it's not even funny!!!

It's difficult though as now Darchinyan has beaten a couple of the guys that pave the way for Donaire moving up... he's made himself the man Donaire needs to fight!!! There doesn't really seem like masses of fights out there for him at the moment.
